NEW NIKE BOOT COLOURWAYS

Posted on Thursday, July 22, 2010 in Boots

Nike have released a plethora of boots in the last week with new colourways featured for both the ’standard’ and Elite models.

We start with the Vapor and Superfly II. The speed boot battle seems to be hotter than ever. Adidas released a real contender with the AdiZero, while Puma’s new V1.10 SL promises to get people talking. Even Umbro have entered the competition with the GT… Nike will still claim to have a firm grip on the market however and their new colourway; Bright Cactus/White/Anthracite will certainly keep people interested.

This new colourway is available in both the Elite and ’standard’ version.

The CTR360 has grown to become one of the best boots on the market. They already have small bragging rights like the fact that they scored the goal to win Spain the World Cup final. Well Andreas Iniesta scored the goal… but he was wearing CTRs.  Now Nike release their newest colourway; Black/White/Retro. We have always enjoyed the two-tone colourways of the CTR360 and Nike have added a new look with the colours fading into each other rather than there being two distinct colours. We really like this new colourway.

A colourway that is not currently available in the Elite series is this new White/Cyber/Black colourway. Again Nike have chosen to fade one colour into another and we really enjoy the effect. The ‘Cyber’ certainly stands out on this colourway and we look forward to seeing these in motion!

After what was not a great World Cup for either Rooney or Torres, two of the Premier League’s top strikers now have a chance to rectify their poor form. And they could be doing it in these; the new Nike T90 Laser III Challenge Red/White/Black colourway. Or you could call it ‘The Manchester United’ or ‘The Liverpool’…

This new colourway is available in both the Elite and ’standard’ version.

The bright red colourway will match perfectly with either kit and we have already had the opportunity to see the boots with the new United kit on their pre-season tour to the USA. Rooney is still on holiday recovering from the World Cup but it seems this colourway is already a hit with both Darren Gibson and Paul Scholes.

Another colourway that is not currently available in the Elite series is the K-Leather T90 Laser III. Having noted how good the Challenge Red/White/Black boots would look with Fernando Torres’  Liverpool kit, don’t be surprised if the Spanish star comes out in a pair of these White/Photo Blue/Charcoal boots. The Liverpool star is notoriously fussy about his boots and prefers a white pair. We can see why – these ooze class.

The last colourway is a classic looking colourway for the Nike Tiempo Legend III. One of the games’ all time greatest boots; the Legends return in a White/Seaweed/Red colourway.

XI SERIES: VAPOR/SUPERFLY

Posted on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in XI Series

Vapor-Superfly-XI

The Vapor/Superfly XI is our second last Nike XI team. Nike have recently released the newest version of their immensely popular Vapor and Superfly range. We had a plethora of choice for the wide positions and up-front as the Vapor/Superflys, thanks to their light build, are a favourite amongst attacking players. It was a little harder to find defenders who wear them. After searching high and wide we think we have found a pretty solid back four to compliment the attacking prowess of our forwards.

So who gets into The Right Winger’s dream Vapor/Superfly  XI?

Strikers:
Didier Drogba is one of the most recognizable Superfly wearers in the Premier League. The big Ivorian striker has had a great campaign. He  is currently the league’s second top scorer with 22 goals to his name. His pace and strength is a continuous threat to defenses.
Gabriel Agbonlahor is developing into one of the best strikers in England. The Aston Villa forward has blistering pace and has begun to add to that a very good football brain. His strength enables him to take on defenders and at just 23 years of age he has a long and bright future ahead of him.

Midfielders:
Andrei Arshavin had bids from both Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona turned down by Zenit St Petersburg. The Russian dynamo eventually went to Arsenal. And what a player they got. Arshavin has become one of the Premier League’s best wingers. Pace, skill and a deadly boot means Arshavin can be a threat from anywhere on the pitch.
Luka Modric is not the biggest player in the Premier League. The Croatian playmaker stands just over 5 ft 8 but his stature makes up for his lack of height. His passing ability and speed with the ball at his feet has seen him become a sought after player. Rumours have linked him with the likes of Manchester United. At the moment he plays for Spurs, and boy does he play well.
Danny Murphy. We thought long and hard about who we would partner with Modric in the centre of midfield. In the end we decided to go with the Fulham captain. Danny has worn many different boots but seems to have settled (for now) on the white/black/pink Vapors. Like Giggs and Scholes, Murphy hasn’t let his age rob him of quality.
Aaron Lennon may be injured at the moment but he is still a TRW favourite. Our opinion is that Lennon should be England’s first choice right winger. His pace and trickery leave defender’s heads spinning. He has added quality crosses into his armory as well.

Defenders:
Paulo Ferreira hasn’t had much game time recently with Chelsea. Paulo is usually a right back or centre back but has done the job for Chelsea at left back and finds himself there for us. The Portuguese player could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge in the summer.
William Gallas knows what it is like to leave Stamford Bridge. He landed up at Arsenal and proved he still has quality. Gallas is quick on the ground and good in the air.
Christopher Samba could be slightly underrated. The giant Blackburn centre back has been very impressive this season. Chris is surprisingly quick and nimble for such a big man (he is 6 ft 4).
Allan Hutton has impressed at Sunderland. The on-loan Spurs right back went to the Stadium of Light to get regular football. His good, consistent performances have caused Steve Bruce to consider signing him permanently.

Goal Keeper:
Manuel Almunia has a tough task if he ever wants to represent the Spanish national team. Casillas, Reina and Valdes all stand before him. That isn’t to say he doesn’t have what it takes to represent his country. Much has been made of the fact that he can be selected for the England side as well. Whatever happens, Almunia is a tall, good shot stopping, quality keeper.

Who do you think should be part of the Vapor/Superfly XI?
