UMBRO ASK YOU TO ‘SHOW YOUR CITY’
As they head towards the conclusion of a what could be a title wining season, Manchester City are asking their fans to suggest how they’d launch the club’s new home and away kits for the 2012/13 season. Do you have an exciting idea for how City can unveil their latest stylish, tailored shirts? Then the club want to hear from you…
Today Umbro launched a very special competition that will allow Manchester City fans to get closer to the club they love than ever before. Wherever you are in the world, if you’ve got a great idea for how to launch the new kits you can enter the Show Your City competition.
All you have to do to enter is to head over to the Show Your City website. Once you’ve thought of a great idea, you can use the site to enter and be in with a chance of getting a professional film crew to visit you to bring your ideas to life! Oh, and of course you’ll get the new shirt before anyone else as well. You’ve got until May 31st to enter your ideas and be in with a chance of winning this fantastic opportunity.
Manchester City have got some superstar footballers in their squad, but that doesn’t mean they’re great actors! As you can see in the video above, City’s stars fluffed their lines, so they’re asking fans of the club from around the world to do it for them.

It is St George’s Day in England and as the England football team look ahead to this summer European Championships Umbro reveals the complete St George collection. The collection is made up of the new England home kit, inspired by England’s patron saint’s flag, which was unveiled in February, boots and bags that Umbro hope will lead the squad to success. There is also some smart items of clothing that England will wear in their training camp this summer. The first boot we look at is the Speciali 3 Pro St George Collection Football Boots: taking classic boot design to the next level.
Designed for players at the very top of their game, the Speciali 3 Pro represent the next generation of the classic Umbro Speciali boot, which has been a firm favourite over the last twenty years.
Tailored by Umbro for this summer’s big football tournament, the Speciali 3 boot comes in a distinctive White/Vermillion/Dark Vermillion/Deep Claret colourway and is expertly crafted from lightweight but strong leather. The laces are hidden on the Speciali 3 St George Collection, creating a larger flat strike surface and giving you greater power and accuracy, as well as better contact with the ball.

Tailored by Umbro for this summer’s football action, the GT 2 Pro boots have been designed to meet the needs of top level players with a fast and colourful playing style. Geometra Pro St George Collection Football Boots: total control and support for visionary players.
Tailored by Umbro for this summer’s big tournament, the Geometra Pro boots are designed for creative players at the very top of their game. Comfort, control and support are enhanced in these responsive boots, which come in a smartly contrasting colourway of White/Vermillion/Dark Vermillion/Deep Claret.

UMBRO LAUNCHES ST GEORGE COLLECTION
Umbro, the official kit supplier to the England team, has today unveiled the St George Collection, an on and off field range which will be used by the England squad at this summer’s European Championships.
The red and white of the St George’s flag is fundamental to this patriotic collection as is the striping detail inspired by the Umbro jacket worn by England manager Sir Alf Ramsey and which features on the current home kit.
The whole St George Collection is underpinned by Umbro’s commitment to delivering a smart look for on and off the field.
On the pitch, Umbro’s signature three pro boots; the Geometra Pro (worn by England and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart), the Speciali 3 (worn by strikers Darren Bent and Andy Carroll) and the GT 2 Pro (worn by England and Tottenham defender Kyle Walker) have all been redesigned incorporating the distinctive St. George collection design. As well as the Geometra boots, Joe Hart’s Geometra Pro gloves have been given the St George Collection makeover. Tailored for use at the highest level of the game, the Geometra gloves include newly developed hyper-extreme latex for improved grip teamed with an extended palm for greater ball control. The striping detail on the gloves doubles up as an embossed structured punch zone with a silicon coating to allow keepers the cleanest possible punch.
The new Neo 2 Pro, which will be used in England matches at Wembley, features an innovative 14-panel design uses fewer seams and allows for cleaner and larger strike zones. It is crafted with materials which allow maximum shape retention and consistency when striking the ball to give a faster and truer flight. The new graphic design offers better in-game visibility, allowing players to judge the amount of speed and spin on the ball with greater ease.
Off the field, the Umbro premium leather luggage ensures the England team looks as smart off the field as they do on it. The luggage, which players will use during the tournament, is crafted with fine black leather and includes subtle red design details.

ST GEORGE’S PARK – TAILORED BY UMBRO

Flying the flag for England: Umbro reveals new white and red England Home Kit
Taking its lead from the St. George’s flag, the new England Home kit, tailored by Umbro, features a patriotic white and red only design.
In a first for the England Home kit, the Three Lions crest, which has previously featured blue and red, appears entirely in red so the strip is a representation of the St. George’s flag in its purest form.
Launching ahead of this summer’s 2012 European Championships,the new Home kit will be worn by the Senior team for the first time on 29th February when the England team take on Holland at Wembley in front of 90,000 fans. The England U21 team will also play in the new strip on the same night when they take on Belgium U21s at the Riverside Stadium.
A key feature of the kit is the red striping detail inspired by the famous stripes on the Umbro jacket worn by England manager Sir Alf Ramsey during England’s 1966 World Cup winning campaign. The striping features on all elements of the kit [shirt, shorts, and socks] and is prominent on the reverse of the players’ collar and is clearly visible when turned up.
In keeping with Umbro’s football smart approach, the kit features a top button to create a football ‘shirt’ in the truest sense.Finished in brushed cotton, the shirt has a classic, smart aesthetic as well as performance benefits which include keeping the wearer comfortable and dry.
Retaining a classic style edge, the shirt has a shaped drop hem, giving a tailored fit that will sit with the natural posture of the body when standing.True to its tailoring heritage, Umbro continues to provide shirts in chest sizes so that each England fan can experience a tailored fit.
Speaking about the new kit, England striker Darren Bent commented: “The new Home kit is really smart and comfortable and that gives us confidence out on the pitch. The shorts and socks are white and also feature the red striping detail. A red change short will also be available later in the season. As a whole,the kit has been designed to provide maximum performance and movement having been crafted using Umbro’s look smart, play smart ethos.
The new England Home goalkeeper’s kit takes inspiration directly from the centre of the flag with full red colouring and the design details in white. Containing an interlocking pattern of red England crosses it aims to ensure Joe Hart stands out on the pitch.
The goalkeeper shirt sleeve has been constructed using a polyester/elastine blend that creates a tight yet flexible fit and offers maximum compatibility with goalkeeping gloves. Crafted in line with the whole England kit, the goalkeeping kit comes complete with Umbro’s iconic stripe rib and is tailored with a classic football smart look.
England goalkeeper Joe Hart commented: “I like the link the kit has to the St. George’s flag and the new goalie kit compliments the outfield strip whilst still standing out. Representing your country is a great honour for any player so I’m proud to wear the white and red of England.”

DARREN BENT’S BESPOKE UMBRO SPECIALI BOOTS
Darren Bent is yet to change to the new Umbro Speciali 3 and looks as though he will wait a bit longer after Umbro presented him with a bespoke pair of Speciali R boots. Aston Villa travel to the Emirates on Sunday to face Arsenal in the FA Cup 4th round. The England striker has scored 99 Premier League goals and to celebrate Umbro have produced a limited number of yellow/purple boots.
Ahead of the game, Darren Bent spoke about his boots and closing in on 100 Premier League goals.
You’ll be debuting these boots in a big game at the weekend, are you looking forward to the game at Arsenal?
‘Yeah, it should be a good game. I wasn’t involved in the game earlier this season, but I was at the last one down at the Emirates and it was a good game. Being an Arsenal fan as well, it’s always nice to play against them, but hopefully we’ll beat them!
The FA Cup is a special competition, and if you can beat Arsenal on the way, then it’d be even better. Beating Arsenal wouldn’t make it any easier though – that’s the magic of the FA Cup, that you can play any team and everyone just grows in stature. It doesn’t matter what division you’re in, anyone can beat anyone, it’s just about producing the goods on the day. If you don’t do that, then you’re out!
Winning the FA Cup would be a massive thing for Villa, we’re a massive, massive club and they should be winning trophies. If we could win the FA Cup, which is such a big prize, it’d be great for all the fans, and there’s no reason why we couldn’t do it.’
These special boots are a bit colourful, is that what you were looking for?
‘Yeah! I’ve always wanted some boots that are a bit more out-there, and Umbro have certainly produced the goods with these ones. I’m looking forward to wearing them! Umbro boots have always been really comfortable, they’re probably the most comfortable boots out there, and then they’ve done this yellow and purple colourway just for me, and they look fantastic, so I’m really pleased. With the colours, I just liked the look of them, I liked how out-there they are. You can’t sit on the fence with these ones.
The boots have also come at a great time as you’re close to getting 100 Premier League goals. Were you aware that you’re close to joining a very special group of players?
‘Yeah, it’s always been an aim of mine, to get in the Premier League 100 club, it takes some doing and there’s some absolutely class players in there. Alan Shearer, Robbie Fowler, Thierry Henry, these are all people that I regard as the best to ever play in the league. I’m on 99 at the moment, so I’m just looking for one more, hopefully I’ll get one off my shin or anything, just so I can be part of that. Once I get in there I’ll just be looking to get more as well. If I could get to 150 and beyond I’d be so happy.’
Obviously if you keep scoring goals, you could be part of the England squad at the Euros this summer. Have you thought about that yet at all?
‘I’m just concentrating on the cup and the league to be honest, because I’ve been in a similar position before, and all I can do is focus on what I do and play as well as I can for Villa, and if I got to go to the Euros with England I’d be delighted.’
Umbro have done some special boots for you before, when you were the first player to have their Twitter name on their boots. How does it feel to be a trendsetter?
‘Nice! As long as people know that I was the first person to do it that’s cool, it’s all good fun. Trendsetter, I like that!’
