Umbro presents England’s future stars wearing England’s new home shirt.

England begin their attempt to rectify their poor World Cup showing by qualifying strongly for Euro 2012. Umbro have unveiled the new England home shirt to be worn for the upcoming 2010-2012 season.
Some of the country’s most talented younger players have been used to promote the new jersey with the likes of Rooney, Walcott, Adam Johnson, Joe Hart and Jack Wilshire lining up for the promotional images. We wonder how many of these young stars will be England regulars come the start of Euro 2012.
The new England jersey is once again ‘Tailored by Umbro’ and features a wider neckline – very similar to that used on the England away shirt – opposed to the previous home jersey’s polo collar. The most stand-out feature however is the new multicoloured shoulder panels. The shirt features dozens of tiny St Georges’ Crosses in a multitude of different colours on the shoulder panels.
This was the idea of legendary pop-artist Peter Saville who designed the new jersey. His explanation is that this design encapsulates the diversity of modern England. With players from a multitude of different heritages pulling on the new England Shirt, Saville believes this is a chance to represent the modern England and celebrate it’s variety of cultures, dispelling the myth that England is a nation comprised of people ‘sitting in pubs, drinking ale and eating roast beef’.
The home kit is rounded off with royal blue shorts – which deviates from last years’ all white kit. Umbro and England’s previous designs have relied heavily on darker navy blues, so a brighter blue is an interesting change. Umbro have also changed their logo from red to a royal blue colour to match the famous Three Lions on the badge.
The goal keepers will wear an all black kit, accented by the bright purple piping. The cut is very innovative on both the Home jersey and keeper’s jersey and that really comes through with the piping.
We also like the new ‘Anthem Jacket’ Umbro have created for fans.
We think the new Ladies goal keeper jersey is rather striking. In fact David James would probably look at home in this. He wore a similar colour last season for Portsmouth.
The full range of the England kit including the Anthem Jersey and Ladies Keeper jersey is available to buy from October the 12th 2010. The new kit will debut against Bulgaria this Friday the 3rd of September in England’s first Euro 2012 qualifier!

NEW WALES HOME KIT TAILORED BY UMBRO
Umbro and the Welsh FA have announced a new two year collaboration as the team looks to qualify for the 2012 UEFA European Championships. Umbro and the Welsh national team last worked together almost 20 years ago but now the players’ kit will once again be Tailored by Umbro.
The new kit will be worn for the first time in tonight’s international friendly against Luxemburg in Llanelli.
In the traditional Welsh red, the shirt features the iconic Welsh crest embroidered on the chest. The Umbro logo, in a bright yellow, is drawn from the colours featured within the national badge of honour.
Crafted from light and breathable fabric, the shirt also features a soft v-neck providing comfort, raglan sleeves made from one piece of fabric aiding articulation and a breathable mesh fabric under the arms. On the hem of the shirt, an embroidered badge unique to each team features the Welsh flag complete with red dragon.
Completing the kit are white shorts and socks which feature eye-catching red and white hoops.
TAILORED BY UMBRO: MANCHESTER CITY HOME KIT
Umbro have unveiled the new Manchester City home kit for the 2010/11 season. The new kit, inspired by some of City’s classic shirts of the past, matches a smart, tailored look with the best in performance technology. The new kit is once again in City’s classic sky blue and features a subtle needle out pinstripe on the front panel, smart dart shaping on the back and a simple crew neck collar, adding an extra level of smart tailoring to the design.
The shirt was crafted with performance in mind and has a special ergonomic shape, which is designed to fit the player’s stance on the pitch, keeping the wearer comfortable at all times. The sleeve and underarm panels are built to aid movement and ventilation and to give the wearer more confidence when they step out onto the pitch. Constructed using a motion-stretch fabric, the sleeves on both the short and long sleeve version of the shirt feature white cuffs, a nod to the classic City shirts of the 1970s.
The home socks feature a maroon hoop which was inspired by a picture of Colin Bell wearing similar socks and is another reference to City’s heritage. The plain white shorts finish off their classy looking, heritage inspired home kit.
The goal keepers’ home kit is a stylish all black kit. We wonder who we will see wearing this kit the most this season with Shay Given and Joe Hart both pushing for the number 1 spot.

Alongside the home kit, Manchester City have also revealed a beautiful new jacket inspired by one of the club’s classic managers. The Mercer jacket, an extra piece of apparel in the range inspired by an Umbro-jacket that the club’s legendary manager wore in the 1960s and 1970s. In sky blue with a blue, white and maroon trim, the jacket is made using the same three-panel system as the club’s onfield kits. The Mercer jacket also has some special touches of its own – the stitched letters on the back of the jacket are created using a bespoke 3D technique – look closely and you’ll see the team’s full name intricately crafted into the letters.
UMBRO STEALTH PRO: BLACK/LIME
Umbro have released a new colourway for their Stealth Pro. The Stealth Pros have been a great success since their release in March.
This new Black/Lime colourway will undoubtedly be a big success in the Premier League. Look out for these on the feet of players such as Gael Clichy, Phil Jagileka and Michael Mancienne.
TAILORED BY UMBRO: NEW MANCHESTER CITY AWAY KIT
Umbro have revealed the new Manchester City away kit – and man do the Citizens look stylish. ‘Tailored by Umbro’ is what the Manchester-based company is all about and they have shown their design class once again with this stylish, dark navy-blue kit. The kit is accented with City’s classic sky blue which is featured on the open v-neck collar and on the long sleeve version’s cuffs.
Manchester City’s new away kit for the 2010/2011 season was revealed as part of their trip to downtown Manhattan in New York when some of the club’s stars had a kickabout against local footballers.
Joe Hart, Emmanuel Adebayor, Micah Richards, Dedryck Boyata, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wayne Bridge and Kolo Touré arrived at Sara D. Roosevelt Park yesterday (22 July) afternoon to take on a group of native New Yorkers and to celebrate the launch of City’s new navy blue away strip.
City captain Kolo Touré commented: ‘We loved playing against the New Yorkers. They gave us a good game on their home turf. The pitch is right in the heart of the city and the atmosphere around it gave us a glimpse of how big football is in New York. It was a fun game to play in and a great way to debut our new away kit’.
The shirt is constructed from three distinct panels which are tailored to meet the movement, ventilation and comfort needs of the player. These are combined into a unique ergonomic shape that inspires confidence in the wearer.
The socks, which feature sky blue hoops on a navy background, are designed to make teammates appear more clearly in a player’s peripheral vision.
Combining the best in performance technology with a smart, stylish look, Manchester City’s away kit will ensure that the players and fans look their best when representing the club away from home.
UMBRO SPECIALI BLACK/WHITE/GOLD
Umbro seem to be on a mission – to become synonymous with the words ‘classy’ and ’stylish’. Their ‘Tailored in England’ slogan has become a trademark for their retro and classically-styled kit and apparel.
Now Umbro have released a new colourway for the much talked about Speciali. The Speciali has been around for a long time. This incarnation is taking football by storm as Umbro’s star continues to rise. Once again Umbro have released a classic. The new Black/White/Gold is once again pure class.
UMBRO PREMIER LEAGUE JERSEYS
Umbro have released the home and away kits for Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and newly promoted West Bromwich Albion. Tailored by Umbro for the 2010/11 season.
Blackburn Rovers will wear their traditional blue and white halved colours as their home kit while their away kits are again red with black trim.
Sunderland’s traditional red and white striped home shirt has a modern touch, with a ‘zig zag’ warp knit design. An all-white home kit is accented beautifully by the dark maroon trimmings.
West Bromwich Albion’s traditional navy blue and white stripes, also feature a ‘zig zag’ warp knit design, giving a modern touch to the Baggies’ classic design. Their away kit is a very classy all-black jersey.
The shirts are constructed from 100% polyester, making them lightweight and breathable for players on the pitch. They also have a mesh-vent seam under the arm which aids ventilation.
NEW RELEASE: UMBRO GT
The boot market is crammed full of new boots and you would think there wouldn’t be much space left for a new kid on the block – especially one who has no previous history. Well Umbro are into breaking the mold at the moment and after the successful reinvention of the Speciali and release of the Stealth Pro they now present the GT.
The Umbro GT is a new chapter in Umbro history as they release a boot that is lightweight, strong, sleek and modern. Two colourways have been unveiled: White/Gunmetal/Orange and Black/White/Lime.
Umbro have used a Japanese Teijin micro-fibre, which is super soft and gives you a very comfortable, snug fit. The TPU upper “A-Frame Cradle” provides great support for the midfoot area. The fact that the upper is a single piece of material – therefore no stitching – combined with the perforations across the ankle collar, tongue and sockliner means that the GT is a very light boot – 236g in fact. (That’s not AdiZero light… but that is hard to beat as nothing is…)
It will be interesting to see which of the Umbro wearers change over to the GT. We can’t see John Terry, Joe Hart, Wilson Palacios or Michael Dawson (to name a few) wearing this speed boot. Darren Bent of Sunderland will be one of the first to wear this breakthrough boot.
This is what Bent had to say: “I can’t wait to wear the new Umbro GT. Not only is the boot incredibly lightweight, which will help my speed on the pitch, it also looks good. I like to play my football with a degree of style and it is great to have footwear that reflects this.”
Nike’s acquisition of the Manchester-based company is bearing some really great fruit and perhaps there are some exciting surprises regarding players yet to be unveiled…
UMBRO NEOPRO BALL
Umbro introduces their new ball the: NeoPro. Constructed from 14 panels and cut using laser technology to create a true flight – the NeoPro will be used for the first time in the FA Cup Final tomorrow.
