NEW NIKE BOOT COLOURWAYS
Nike have released a plethora of boots in the last week with new colourways featured for both the ’standard’ and Elite models.
We start with the Vapor and Superfly II. The speed boot battle seems to be hotter than ever. Adidas released a real contender with the AdiZero, while Puma’s new V1.10 SL promises to get people talking. Even Umbro have entered the competition with the GT… Nike will still claim to have a firm grip on the market however and their new colourway; Bright Cactus/White/Anthracite will certainly keep people interested.

This new colourway is available in both the Elite and ’standard’ version.
The CTR360 has grown to become one of the best boots on the market. They already have small bragging rights like the fact that they scored the goal to win Spain the World Cup final. Well Andreas Iniesta scored the goal… but he was wearing CTRs. Now Nike release their newest colourway; Black/White/Retro. We have always enjoyed the two-tone colourways of the CTR360 and Nike have added a new look with the colours fading into each other rather than there being two distinct colours. We really like this new colourway.

This new colourway is available in both the Elite and ’standard’ version.
A colourway that is not currently available in the Elite series is this new White/Cyber/Black colourway. Again Nike have chosen to fade one colour into another and we really enjoy the effect. The ‘Cyber’ certainly stands out on this colourway and we look forward to seeing these in motion!

After what was not a great World Cup for either Rooney or Torres, two of the Premier League’s top strikers now have a chance to rectify their poor form. And they could be doing it in these; the new Nike T90 Laser III Challenge Red/White/Black colourway. Or you could call it ‘The Manchester United’ or ‘The Liverpool’…

This new colourway is available in both the Elite and ’standard’ version.
The bright red colourway will match perfectly with either kit and we have already had the opportunity to see the boots with the new United kit on their pre-season tour to the USA. Rooney is still on holiday recovering from the World Cup but it seems this colourway is already a hit with both Darren Gibson and Paul Scholes.

Another colourway that is not currently available in the Elite series is the K-Leather T90 Laser III. Having noted how good the Challenge Red/White/Black boots would look with Fernando Torres’ Liverpool kit, don’t be surprised if the Spanish star comes out in a pair of these White/Photo Blue/Charcoal boots. The Liverpool star is notoriously fussy about his boots and prefers a white pair. We can see why – these ooze class.

The last colourway is a classic looking colourway for the Nike Tiempo Legend III. One of the games’ all time greatest boots; the Legends return in a White/Seaweed/Red colourway.

This new colourway is available in both the Elite and ’standard’ version.
So which colourway is your favourite?

FOOTBALL’S FAIRYTALE NIGHT
Last night saw some amazing things happen in the world of football. Fulham played host to Juventus. The Italian giants had a 3-1 aggregate lead over the London club. This was increased to 4-1 after just 2 minutes thanks to David Trezeguet. That should have been the end of Roy Hodgson’s men. It wasn’t. A goal from Zamora and a Gera brace brought the teams level. Enter Clint Dempsey. The American winger sent the Cottage faithful into wild celebration with his dainty chip over Juve keeper, Antonio Chimenti. Fulham held on to win the tie 5-4 on aggregate. Dempsey’s chip was a historic moment for Fulham. It was also the first competitive outing for the new Nike Superfly II. Dempsey’s cheeky flick won’t be the last time a player sporting Superfly II’s will make us go: ‘Wow!’

In a slightly less glamorous affair, but not less fairytale-like, Owen Hargreaves made his long awaited return to football in a reserves match against Burnley. The United reserves came out 2-0 winners on the night. Hargreaves played a full 45 minutes before being replaced. This will no doubt excite Manchester United fans all around the world. It will also give a few England fans a reason to smile. Hargreaves still has a long way to go before he can seriously start talking about a World Cup place but playing is the first step. His boot choice was an interesting one. Hargreaves chose to play his first match since returning from injury in the newly released Red/Metallic Gold/Summit White Nike CTR360 Maestri boots. The midfield enforcer wore T90 Lasers before his double knee surgery. We wait expectantly to see if he carries on wearing these great looking boots boots.

NIKE MERCURIAL VAPOR SUPERFLY II
NIKE LAUNCHES MERCURIAL VAPOR SUPERFLY II, DELIVERING GREATER SPEED AND EXCLUSIVE INSIDER ACCESS TO THE WORLD’S TOP PLAYERS

First-of-its-kind football boot features revolutionary NIKE SENSE adaptive traction technology and helps players improve their performance with expert tips and training through Nike Football+
Yesterday unveiled the Mercurial Vapor SuperFly II, a lightweight boot featuring a new, unique adaptive traction system designed for explosive acceleration.
The Mercurial Vapor SuperFly II features a reengineered upper for enhanced fit and ball control for fast feet. The vibrant ultra-violet color boosts visibility on the pitch.
“NIKE, Inc. is the world’s largest and most innovative football company,” said Mark Parker, NIKE, Inc.’s President & CEO. “Our success in the world’s most popular sport is based on creating innovative products and experiences such as the new, incredibly light and responsive Mercurial SuperFly II boot and Nike Football+ which connects the digital and physical worlds of football. These are among Nike’s most advanced products to date and will help write the next chapter for Nike football.”

Traction on demand
In developing NIKE SENSE adaptive traction technology, designers created a smart stud that can extend and retracts by up to 3mm, based on ground conditions and pressure exerted by the player. Directionally positioned blades maximize cutting and allow for quick changes of direction, while secondary toe traction provides added toe-off power for those first critical steps. The result is a boot that enables greater speed in all directions.

Nike’s design and engineering teams talked with some of the fastest players in the world, who emphasized that acceleration around a defender is just as important as beating him in a straight line. The Nike Sports Research Lab researched the world championship finals in 2006 and found that there were 845 slipping events over 63 games, or roughly 14 per game. Building on these insights, the Nike team collaborated closely with elite athletes including Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexandre Pato to create a boot that enables toe-off acceleration and minimizes slippage in game-changing situations. “For me, it’s all about first-step acceleration, but twisting and turning around a defender is also important,” Cristiano Ronaldo said. “The Mercurial Vapor Superfly II helps me do both, so I can beat my opponent and create scoring opportunities.”
Athlete insights also pointed to the desire for a close fit around the foot without compromising on durability or support. Next-generation Nike Flywire technology incorporated into the boot’s streamlined upper provides a lightweight, strong and more dynamic fit. The carbon composite tuned chassis provides a lightweight platform with traction elements and allows players to stay closer to the ground.

Access to the elite through Nike Football+
The Mercurial Vapor SuperFly II also gives consumers unprecedented access to the training insights of the world’s top players, teams and coaches through Nike Football+.
