BOOT SPOTTING 4-5 FEBRUARY

Posted on Monday, February 6, 2012 in Boot Spotting

It’s time for your usual dose of Premier League boot spots as TRW returns with the latest and best boot spots from this weekend’s Premier League action.

With the transfer window having only recently shut there are still a few players making their debuts for their new teams. Everton’s new striker Nikica Jelavic made his Toffee debut against Wigan wearing a pair of White/Volt Tiempo Legend III boots.

nikica-jelavic-everton

Gary Cahill made his debut for Chelsea in what was arguably the match of the weekend. The ex-Bolton stopper almost grabbed the winner with just a few minutes remaining when he released a scorching long range drive. Cahill is still in Umbro Stealth Pro II boots – a silo Umbro have done away with since the introduction of the Geometra Pro.

gary-cahill-chelsea

It was a perfect start for Djibril Cisse midweek and now this weekend Bobby Zamora made a goal scoring start to his QPR career. Zamora has been in a Silver/Gold pair of Under Armour boots we believe to be the upcoming Hydrastrike II for awhile.

bobby-zamora-QPR

Another Cisse made a great start to his Premier League debut this weekend as Newcastle’s new Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse came off the bench in Nike T90 Laser IV boots to score a stunning winner against Aston Villa. Cisse joined from SC Freiburg and will partner fellow Senegalese star Demba Ba.

papiss-cisse-newcastle

Our last debut boot spot from the weekend is Manchester City’s new midfielder David Pizzaro. The Chilean arrived from Roma having made over 140 appearances for the Italian club. We are glad to see Pizzaro giving the new White/Energy Adidas AdiPure 11Pro another outing.

david-pizarro-man-city

Nike’s Dark Shadow/Volt CTR360 colourway has been a massive hit but another one of their alternate colourways has been less of a hit in the Premier League. Perhaps the fact that the Red/White/Anthracite T90 Laser IV colourway is a leather boot is the reason we have only seen Fernando Torres and now Norwich’s South African born Andrew Surman in them.

andrew-surman-norwich

Arguably one of the best performers this season, Swansea’s midfielder Joe Allen has been a revelation in the Premier League. Allen boasts passing stats the likes of Xavi and Iniesta would be proud of. The Welsh midfielder is a great advert for the control attributes of Adidas’ AdiPower Predator.

joe-allen-swansea

Robin van Persie is another player flying the AdiPower Predator flag. The Arsenal skipper is having his best season for the Gunners and struck a hat-trick over the weekend as the Gunners put 7 past a hapless Blackburn Rovers. Van Persie often has his Predators customised for him and he obviously has really likes his White/Purple Champions League colourway.

robin-van-persie-arsenal

The Puma PowerCat 1.12 has been a great success since their launch. Peter Crouch has joined his fellow Puma wearers in the PowerCat 1.12’s second colourway. The classic looking Black/White/Lime colourway is similar to the launch colourway of the original PowerCat 1.10.

peter-crouch-stoke

There is a lot of debate about Manchester United’s Spain keeper David De Gea. The young number 1 has looked shacky at times but put in a much improved display against Chelsea, despite them putting 3 past him. De Gea arrived in England wearing T90 Laser III boots but has since switched to Tiempo Legend IV boots.

MIDWEEK BOOT SPOTTING 31-1 FEBRUARY

Posted on Thursday, February 2, 2012 in Boot Spotting

Having switched their focus to the FA Cup over the weekend, Premier League teams were quickly back in action midweek. Along with some great spots on seasoned Premier League players we got to see some of the footwear being used by a few of the new January arrivals.

Having scored on debut for Liverpool and Sunderland, French striker Djibril Cisse made a great start to his third spell in English football when he scored QPR’s opening goal against Aston Villa. Cisse arrived from Italian side Lazio and wore a pair of Blue/White/Slime second generation Adidas AdiZero boots.

djibril-cisse-QPR

Although he has been at the club for a few seasons Frazier Campbell’s return from injury will feel like a new signing for Black Cats boss Mark Hughes. Campbell made his second appearance of the year and first in the Premier League wearing Adidas AdiZero MiCoach boots and opening scoring with a brilliant volley.

frazier-campbell-sunderland

Cameron Lancaster is another player isn’t quite a new signing. The Spurs youngest was promoted into the first team for their game against Wigan after Defoe was ruled out, Pavlyuchenko was sold and Louis Saha yet to arrive. Lancaster came off the bench for Adebayor wearing White/Blue/Electricity Adidas AdiPower boots.

cameron-lancaster-spurs

We got a first glimpse at Umbro’s new White/Black/Nectarine Speciali 3 boots a few days ago and now Swansea’s Danny Graham has introduces us to the alternate Black/White/Blue launch colourway.

danny-graham-swansea

We featured Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge only a few days ago after the England forward was spotted having changed out of his Nike T90 Laser IV boots into Adidas AdiZero Micoach boots. Sturridge was however back in T90s midweek as Chelsea faced Swansea.

daniel-sturridge-chelsea

Emmanuel Frimpong has made a few appearances for Wolves already having arrived on loan from Arsenal. The Ghanaian midfielder has impressed in his short time at the Molineux wearing Puma PowerCat 1.12 boots and Mick McCarthy will hope he can help steer Wolves away from the relegation zone.

emmanuel-frimpong-wolves

Jermaine Pennant has struggled for game time this season and wouldn’t have helped his cause to much after costing his side a penalty against Manchester United. The former Liverpool winger has been a boot spot favourite for awhile and gets to feature once again after he wore David Beckham’s Blue/White/Electricity Adidas AdiPower Predator boots.

jermaine-penant-stoke

Morten Gamst Perderson also has his own colourway after the Blackburn Rovers winger had a bespoke pair of White/Blue AdiPower Predators made for himself which he has been in for a few games.

morten-gamst-pedersen-blackburn

There was much speculation surrounding Peter Odemwingie this transfer window. In the end the Nigerian striker has remained with West Bromwich Albion.  Odemwingie has been a Nike Superfly wearer for the most part but started in a pair of Tiempo Legend IV boots. However he was quickly back in a pair of Superfly III boots for the second half.

peter-odemwingie-west-brom

Many thought Sergio Aguero gave Puma’s new Blue/White/Lime V1.11 colourway their onfield debut however it was Steven Pienaar. The new colourway seems to be an immediate hit with boots fans and is the first colourway Aguero has worn since signing with Puma and wearing their Green/Navy V1.11 colourway.

BOOT SPOTTING 21-22 JANUARY

Posted on Monday, January 23, 2012 in Boot Spotting

The weekend was dominated by Sunday’s two North London v Manchester games as Manchester City welcomed Tottenham Hotspur while Manchester United travelled to Arsenal. Saturday however produced equally entertaining football – as it did boot spots.

We keep expecting to spot Umbro’s main men to make the switch to the new Speciali 3. However it looks like we will have to wait at least one more week before we see them in the Premier League after the likes of John Terry and Aston Villa’s Darren Bent remained in Speciali R boots.

darren-bent-villa

Despite the new Speciali not making it onto pitches yet, the new Umbro colourway are doing very well. Sunderland’s Connor Wickham this week joined Kyle Walker in the new Silver/Red GT II Pro colourway – which looked pretty good with his Black Cats kit.

connor-wickham-sunderland

Another great looking colourway is the new White/Red/Kingfisher Geometra Pro colourway Jordan Henderson has been wearing. Unfortunately Henderson was unable to help his side avoid a surprise defeat to Bolton Wanderers which put a major dent in their Top 4 chances.

jordan-henderson-liverpool

Along with the Umbro Speciali we are awaiting the new Adidas AdiPure 11Pro. Gareth Barry gave them their Premier League debut last Monday but likes of Frank Lampard are yet to switch to the new AdiPure. We don’t know whether or not it is a personal preference or not but we would have thought the Chelsea man would have been one of the first to make the switch.

frank-lampard-chelsea

Boot spot favourite Hugo Rodallega once again came out in a bespoke pair of Nike Superfly II boots. We have seen Rodallega wearing this custom pair before when he wore them against West Ham United last May.

hugo-rodallega-wigan

Hatem Ben Arfa is quickly becoming a boot spot favourite. Last week Hatem wore a pair of AdiZero I boots having previously worn Nike Superfly IIIs. This week however the Newcastle winger wore the new Adidas AdiZero MiCoach football boots and seemed to take an instant liking to them.

hatem-ben-arfa-newcastle

One player who doesn’t seem to be the biggest fan of the new MiCoach AdiZero is Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe. It took Defoe a while to switch to them and has been in and out of them since. This weekend he started with the Black/Warning MiCoach but switched at halftime to his old Blue/Slime AdiZero Prime boots.

jermain-defoe-spurs

Darren Gibson made his Premier League debut for Everton this weekend after his switch from Manchester United. The Republic of Ireland midfielder will be looking to impress both David Moyes and international coach Giovanni Trapattoni. Gibson made his debut wearing Nike’s White/Silver/Purple CTR360 Maestri II colourway.

darren-gibson-everton

A Nike colourway that seems to be gaining a rapid following is the Dark Shadow/Volt colourway of their CTR360 Maestri II. West Brom stopper Ben Foster joined the likes of Balotelli and Huth in wearing the alternate colourway.

ben-foster-stoke-city

Arguably one of the best players of the weekend was Arsenal starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The young winger impressed so much that the Gunner’s faithful booed Wenger (even Robin van Persie looked shocked) when he substituted Alex in the second half. Oxlade wore Nike’s Blue/White/blue CTR360 Maestri II football boots complete with his #MAKEITCOUNT personalization.

BOOT SPOTTING 14-15 JANUARY

Posted on Monday, January 16, 2012 in Boot Spotting

We came into the weekend expecting to see a host of new boots and colourways after both Umbro and Adidas released a plethora of boot updates over the past two weeks. We were a little disappointed to see how few made their Premier League debut this weekend. (Especially the new AdiPure 11Pro – which was debuted around the world but didn’t take to any Premier League pitches.)

One new colourway seeing Premier League action for the first time was the new Silver/Black/Red GT II Pro colourway worn by Spurs fullback Kyle Walker. Walker has become one of the best fullbacks in England and Umbro must be glad to have him on their books.

kyle-walker-spurs

Swansea midfielder Danny Graham went backwards when he wore a pair of White/Blue GT Pro boots against Arsenal. The new GT II Pro is a big improvement in the original GT – which we felt was an underrated boot.

danny-graham-swansea

We expected to see the new Umbro Speciali 3 making their first appearance this weekend but the likes of Darren Bent and John Terry were still wearing Speciali R boots while Stoke City’s Wilson Palacios – who we have seen in a black-out pair – opted for Black/Blue/Yellow Geometra Pro boots.

wilson-palcios-stoke-city

We did a glimpse of the new Umbro Geometra Pro colourway however as Newcastle winger Jonas Gutierrez wore the new Black/Green/Red colourway to help his side overcome QPR on Sunday.

jonas-gutierrez-newcastle

With Adidas having announced the signing of Iker Casillas this week, Manchester United’s veteran winger Ryan Giggs is now the only professional player to be wearing Reebok boots. Giggs has been wearing these kit matching White/Red boots for the past few weeks. We wonder how much longer he will continue to play for United and Reebok.

ryan-giggs-man-utd

Giggs was once part of an impressive Reebok lineup that included Thierry Henry. The New York Red Bull player has since joined Puma and set the boot world alight last weekend when he wore the upcoming King Finale SL in his first game back with the Arsenal. Henry was back in them this weekend but failed to help his side avoid defeat.

thierry-henry-arsenal

Recent years has seen stars from the MLS taking up offers for short term loans in the Premier League and that is the case once again as Robbie Keane joined Henry and serial visitor Landon Donavon. LA Galaxy teammates Donovan and Keane faced each other this weekend as Keane made his Aston Villa debut wearing Grey/red/Black T90 Laser IV boots.

robbie-keane-aston-villa

Nike’s recent collection of new colourways were all rather understated with the most understated of them all being the Dark Shadow/Volt CTR360 Maestri II colourway – a colourway which has become a massive hit amongst boot fans. So far Mario Balotelli and Robert Huth have worn the colourway and now Norwich’s Bradley Johnson has joined them.

bradley-johnson-norwich

Puma’s PowerCat 1.12 has been a huge success since their launch. Cesc Fabregas is the biggest name to have switched to Puma and the PowerCat 1.12 but others such as Bolton defender Gretar Steinsson – who was an AdiZero wearer – have switched to the German brand.

gretar-steinsson-bolton

Hatem Ben Arfa has been in superb form for Newcastle of late. Ben Arfa has worn a host of boots in his time at the Toon and this weekend wore a pair of the original F50 AdiZero Chameleon/Electricity boots. The Chameleon/Electricity colourway was Leo Messi’s exclusive colourway – perhaps Ben Arfa is aiming to emulate the Bacelona star’s success.

hatem-ben-arfa-newcastle

Arguably the spot of the weekend, Sunderland winger James McClean had as thinking he was wearing Black/Warning/Electricity AdiZero MiCoach boots but a closer look revealed he was in fact wearing a bespoke pair of Black/Red/White MiAdidas boots – matched perfectly to his Sunderland kit.

james-mcclean-sunderland

On the subject of bespoke AdiZero boots and Lionel Messi… Adidas commissioned a bespoke Gold/White/Energy pair of AdiZero boots for Messi to celebrate his third Ballon d’Or which he wore for Barcelona’s cup game against Real Betis.

NEW YEARS ‘BEST OF’ BOOT SPOTTING

Posted on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Boot Spotting

With games coming thick and fast over the weekend (and TRW taking a few days off) there were far to many boot spots to jam into one article so we decided to bring you a ‘best of’ from the games played over the New Years period. It’s our first boot spot of 2012 and possible one of our best.

It was a new year and a new haircut for Manchester United midfielder Anderson who returned from a long injury layoff. United have been ravaged by injuries and the Brazilian’s return to fitness is a boost. Anderson made his comeback in the Champions League colourway Adidas AdiPower Predator.

anderson-man-utd

Tottenham Hotspur fullback Benoit Assou-Ekotto raised a few eyebrows when he appeared wearing an AdiPower Predator on one foot and an AdiZero MiCoach boot on the other. Benoit has been wearing different colourways but has taken it to the next level with different boots.

benoit-assou-ekotto-spurs

The coming of a new year is an opportunity to start a fresh and try new things and it seems Bolton striker David Ngog has done so when he wore the new AdiZero. Ngog has been in a pair of White/White/Warning AdiZero II boots for most of his Bolton career.

david-ngog-bolton

It’s always about the new however as Newcastle winger Jonas Gutierrez showed when he switched from Umbro Geometra Pro boots to an old pair of Silver/Black Stealth Pro I boots.

jonas-gutierrez-newcastle

We expected Luka Modric to wear Nike’s alternate White/Blue/Volt Superfly III colourway as he seems to be a fan of White boots so we were a little surprised to see him wearing the recently released Purple/Silver colourway.

luka-modric-spurs

We were interested to see Mario Balotelli wearing the alternate Dark Shadow/Volt CTR360 Maestri II colourway but it seems to have caught the eye of Stoke’s Robert Huth who has also opted for the understated colourway.

robert-huth-stoke

Nigel De Jong was a familiar face in the Manchester City side last season but has struggled for game time so far this season. De Jong has been an avid Puma King Finale wearer but has now joined a host of stars in the PowerCat 1.12.

nigel-de-jong-man-city

Adidas released arguably one of their best AdiPower Predator colourways when they released the White/Blue/Black/Warning colourway. We were disappointed to hear that it would have no official on field support so we were glad to see Everton star Tim Cahill wearing the colourway.

tim-cahill-everton

A boot we think could have a huge impact this year is Umbro’s new speed boot the GT II Pro. Kyle Walker and Connor Wickham have both impressed in the boot so far and are joined by Norwich forward Simeon Jackson.

simeon-jackson-norwich

Robin van Persie was arguably the player of 2011 and we hope he continues to have an injury free and prolific 2012. A lot has been said recently about van Persie’s AdiPower Predators after the Dutch forward was spotted in a custom soleplate.

BOOT SPOTTING 26-27 DECEMBER

Posted on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in Boot Spotting

With Christmas over the Premier League squeezed in a round of games before the new year. There was Christmas cheer for some but other were left hoping for a better 2012. On display as usual were some of the best boots – which we are sure many of you wished were in your stockings.

One player that will certainly be hoping for a better 2012 is Chelsea forward Fernando Torres. A change of clubs hasn’t brought out his best nor has the new Red/Black/White T90 Laser IV K-Leather colourway – perhaps 2012 will see Torres back to his best.

fernando-torres-chelsea

Another player hoping for a brighter 2012 will be QPR star Adel Taarabt. Taarabt set the Championship alight with his dazzling skill but has failed to impress in the Premier League so far. He was in the new White/Red/Silver Tiempo Legend IV boots for QPR’s game against Swansea.

adel-taarabt-qpr

At the opposite end of the scales is Newcastle’s Senegalese striker Demba Ba. Ba has had a season to remember so far scoring 14 goals. Ba has played a big role in helping the Adidas AdiZero MiCoach rocket to the top of the Top Scoring Boot table.

demba-ba-newcastle

We love it when players match their boots to their kit and Sunderland’s Kieran Richardson is one such player. Richardson has been in the launch Red/White CTR360 Maestri II colourway for months but has stuck with the Sunderland home kit complementing colourway despite a host of newer options.

kieran-richardson-sunderland

Park Ji-Sung has joined fellow Nike Tiempo Legend IV teammates Patrice Evra and Javier Hernandez in matching the new White/Red/Silver colourway to his United kit. We now await Antonio Valencia and Jonny Evans to join them.

ji -sung-park-man-utd

Under Armor have had an unofficial boot floating around on the likes of Bobby Zamora and Paul Robinson in the Premier League for a while now.  It was Robinson’s understudy Mark Bunn who impressed in them this time around however – helping Blackburn earn a vital point at Anfield.

mark-bunn-blackburn

Most people wouldn’t have noticed Bunn or his boots as the headlines were stolen by the return of Steven Gerrard. Gerrard has been out for a long time from injury but looked on top form when he came off the bench in a pair of Black/Warning AdiPower Predators. Always one to wear black boots – it is no surprise Gerrard opted for this colourway.

steven-gerrard-liverpool

Despite the host of new boots that have hit the field in recent time it is always nice to see an old classic take the pitch. Nike’s original was groundbreaking at the time and still seems to be a favorite of Spurs defender William Gallas who has worn this Orion Blue/Metallic Silver/Dark Obsidian pair for awhile now.

william-gallas-spurs

At one stage it seems like every team had a player in a pair of white-out Puma PowerCat 1.12 boots. Since their release the white-out version has almost disappeared with only Arsenal’s Johan Djourou having not switched to the official launch colourway.

johan-djourou-arsenal

Djourou’s teammate Tomas Rosicky on the other hand has left his white-out boots behind and sports the great looking launch White/Blue colourway. We expect a colour update of the Powercat 1.12 early in the new year.

BOOT SPOTTING 20-21 DECEMBER

Posted on Thursday, December 22, 2011 in Boot Spotting

With December’s trademark hectic schedule in full swing the Premier League treated us to some thoroughly entertaining football midweek. As usual the boot spots were as exciting as the football action and TRW has brought you the best from Premier League.

The weekend was all about new Nike colourways and it was once again the new colourways grabbing our attention. Clint Dempsey was in the Volt colourway Superfly III over the weekend but turned out in the new Purple/Silver colourway midweek as Fulham hosted Manchester United.

clint-dempsey-fulham

Wolves’ striker Steven Fletcher has been an avid Superfly wearer but has made the switch to Nike’s T90 Laser IV (which most strikers have been forced to do.) Fletcher was on target for Wolves as they draw with Norwich wearing the new Grey/Red/Black T90 colourway.

steven-fletcher-wolves

Last night was all about records as Marc Albrighton scored the Premier League’s 20000th goal since it started in 1992-93. Albrighton made history in the new Blue/White/Blue CTR360 Maestri II colourway – which seems to be an instant hit.

mark-albrighton-aston-villa

One player we thought would jump into the new CTR360 colourway was Blackburn’s David Dunn. Dunn had worn the very similar Blue Sapphire/White/Black CTR360 Maestri I colourway but has now switched into White/Blue Nike Tiempo Legend IV boots.

david-dunn-blackburn-rovers

The new colourways seem to be scoring plenty of goals as the new White/Red/Silver Tiempo Legend IV colourway helped Wes Brown scored his first goal for Sunderland while helping the Black Cats secure a much needed 3 points.

wes-brown-sunderland

Dimitar Berbatov finished joint top scorer last season but has found chances to impress few and far between this season. The Bulgarian came off the bench to score United’s 5th with a typically Berbatov-esque back heel wear Black/Warning Adidas AdiPower Predator boots.

dimitar-berbatov-man-utd

Mikel Arteta is a boot spotting favourite here at TRW and the Spanish midfielder features again as the Gunners’ midfielder wore Puma’s latest King Finale colourway. The King Finale isn’t know for their over the top colourways but rather feature classy colourway such as this White/Navy/Orange colourway.

mikel-arteta-arsenal

One of the best looking boots in our opinion is the Mizuno Supersonic Wave II which was released back in July. The innovative Supersonic Wave II looks best in the  Pearl/Blue/Black colourway which Swansea’s right back Angel Rangel (22) wore against Everton.

angel-rangel-swansea-city

Wilson Palacios caught our eye wearing a black-out pair of boots as Stoke took on Manchester City. Palacios has been in Umbro Geometra Pro boot of late but has been known to wear Speciali boots leading us to believe he was testing out the upcoming Speciali III.

wilson-palacios-stoke

Tonight will see 3rd and 4th placed Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea face each other at White Heart Lane. We were interested to see Spurs’ fullback Benoit Assou-Ekotto practicing his free-kicks wearing Adidas AdiZero MiCoach boots. Assou-Ekotto has been in two different colourway AdiPower Predators on each foot for the past few weeks but we will be on the look out to see whether or not the Cameroonian is about to join the likes of teammates Bale, Adebayor and Defoe wearing AdiZeros.

BOOT SPOTTING 17-18 DECEMBER

Posted on Monday, December 19, 2011 in Boot Spotting

Once again TRW has the very best boot spot from the Premier League for you to check out this Monday morning. Having just released a host of new colourways it is no wonder that this weeks boot spot article has a distinct Nike feel to it.

Although the new colourways caught the eye, not everyone was wearing new colourways. We were a little surprised to see that Fulham star Clint Dempsey was still in the Volt colourway as he is one of Nike’s main Superfly wearers in England.

clint-dempsey-fulham

Jermaine Pennant has worn a plethora of different boots in his time at Stoke and has most recently been in Adidas AdiPure IV boots. Pennant made a return from injury this week however wearing Cristiano Ronalod’s CR7 Nike Superfly III colourway.

jermaine-pennat-stoke

The new Purple/Silver Superfly III colourway didn’t catch the eye in the same way as the previous Volt colourway but looked great on the pitch none the less with the likes of Aston Villa’s young striker Nathan Delfouneso wearing the new colourway.

nathan-delfouneso-aston-villa

Theo Walcott looked very pleased upon receiving his new Purple/Silver Superfly III boots. The Arsenal winger would have hoped to have given them a winning debut however Arsenal failed to bring down Manchester City who secured a 1-0 victory on Sunday evening.

theo-walcott-arsenal

Chelsea came from behind last week to beat City but saw their title chances take a knock when they allowed Wigan a late equalizer. Juan Mata has impressed since his arrival in England but couldn’t  help his side grab all three points in his new Purple/Silver Superfly III boots.

juan-mata-chelsea

It wasn’t all about the Superfly as the new Grey/Red/Black T90 Laser IV colourway was also on show. Nike’s alternate K-Leather Red/White/Anthracite colourway looked a perfect match for Manchester United’s home kit but Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck showed that the Grey/Red/Black looks just as good. Rooney gave the colourway a scoring debut while Welbeck wore the T90 Laser IV for the firs time having previously worn Nike’s Tiempo Legend IV.

welbeck-rooney-man-utd

Welbeck’s teammate Patrice Evra was in the new Timepo Legend IV colourway – which also match United’s kit with the Red Nike tick on the White leather upper.

patrice-evra-man-utd

Everton’s Marouane Fellaini was also in the new White/Red colourway Timepo. Fellaini opted for the lighter Kangaroo leather Elite version while Evra wore the ‘standard’ K-leather/Kanga light model.

marouane-fellaini-everton

Arguably the best colourway Nike have released is the new Blue/White/Blue CTR360 Maestri II colourway which was worn by the likes of Blackburn’s Yakubu. Yakubu has been in fine form for Rovers and is vital for their survival chances.

yakubu-blackburn

It wasn’t all about Nike this weekend however. Roman Pavlyuchenko cam off the bench for Spurs to secure a 1-0 win over Sunderland. Pavlyuchenko wore Adidas MiCoach AdiZero boots which have scored of 70 goals already this season.

BOOT SPOTTING 10-11 DECEMBER

Posted on Monday, December 12, 2011 in Boot Spotting

The Premier League never fails to produce some wonderful football as well as some interesting boot spots. Check out our latest batch of boots spots from Premier League.

Nike also unveil a collection of new colourways around this time of year so we expect colourway updates for their boots in the next few weeks. Wayne Rooney hasn’t had much luck in his T90 Laser IV boot recently but did grab a brace against Wolves.

wayne-rooney-man-utd

QPR’s Aarmand Traore won’t be worried about any new Nike Tiempo Legend IV colourways coming out as he has been wearing this black-out pair for a few weeks.

armand-traore-qpr

Stoke City brought Tottenham Hotspurs fine unbeaten run to an end on Sunday thanks to a brace from former Spurs winger Matthew Etherington. Etherington struck twice in the first half wearing Puma’s latest Yellow/Purple V1.11 colourway.

matthew-etherington-stoke

Spurs had their chances to draw level but could only manage 1 goal when Emmanuel Adebayor scored from the spot. It was Adebayor’s first Premier League outing in the new Adidas AdiZero miCoach.

emmanuel-adebayor-spurs

An Adidas colourway we haven’t seen a lot of is the rather eye-catching Black/Electricity AdiPure IV colourway. Wigan’s Mohamed Diame showed just how good they look on the pitch as his side took on West Brom.

mohamed-diame-wigan

Most players have switched to the new Adidas Predator AdiPower but there are still a few who have stuck to the Predator X. Aston Villa’s Stiliyan Petrov showed the X still has goals in it when he it Villa’s winner against Bolton.

stiliyan-petrov-aston-villa

The Umbro Geometra Pro has been a great success despite their relatively small on field presence. Their launch White/Black/Red colourway is great for Brede Hangeland as, whether home or away, they match his Fulham kit perfectly.

brede-hangeland-fulham

The brand new GT II Pro has had a lot of hype since they made their Premier League debut last weekend on the feet of Kyle Walker. Walker’s Spurs teammate Kyle Naughton – on loan at Norwich – seems to really like them as he was spotted in them against Newcastle.

kyle-naughton-norwich

This weekend saw the return of ex-Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neil to the sideline as he took charge of Sunderland for the first time against Blackburn Rovers. O’Neil got off to a winning start and looked good on the sideline in Umbro’s Speciali Elite boots.

martin-o'neil-sunderland

Our final boot spot was a very interesting one. Mikel Arteta has been spotted in everything Puma this season and spent a while in white-out Powercat 1.12 pre their release. His black-out boot this weekend meant he was in another Puma prototype. Rumor has it Puma are working on something special ahead of the Euro next year and it seems the Arsenal ace is chipping in with some professional opinion.

BOOT SPOTTING 3-4 DECEMBER

Posted on Monday, December 5, 2011 in Boot Spotting

This weekend’s Premier League action once again delivered some great action with 30 goals being scored. It also threw up some very interesting boot spots. Check out our latest collection of boot spots from this weekend’s action.

We have featured Gareth Bale before in our boot spots but this weekend saw his boots get some added attention (not something Adidas will bemoan). Bale opened the scoring for Spurs and quickly whipped of his boots to reveal a ‘RIP Garry Speed’ tribute to the late Wales manager stitched on the side of his AdiZero MiCoach boots.

gareth-bale-spurs

Bale’s teammate Kyle Walker caught the eye in the brand new Umbro GT II Pro boots. The Blue Radiance/Black/Orange Popsicle colourway certainly looked good on the pitch and we would love to see more of them. The boots were scheduled to make their debut last weekend but had that delayed to this weekend.

kyle-walker-spurs

An ex-Spurs player caught our eye when he opted for a pair of Anodized Purple/Electricity/Infrared AdiZero boots. Wolves midfielder Jamie O’Hara has been an avid Adidas Predator wearer but wore the Adidas speed boot this weekend as Wolves beat Sunderland.

jamie-o'hara-wolves

The surprise of the weekend must have been QPR skipper Joey Barton popping up in a pair of Black/Warning Adidas AdiPower Predator boots. Barton had been wearing white-out Puma PowerCat 1.12 boots prior to their release but looks to have moved on.

joey-barton-qpr

Joining Barton in AdiPower Predators was Stoke City’s Jonathan Woodgate. Woodgate has played very little football over the past 18 months but when he has it has been in the World Cup colourway Nike CTR360 Elite boots but has been in the AdiPower for a few weeks now.

jonathan-woodgate-stoke

Predators were out in all colourways this weekend – including a custom colourway on the feet of Norwich’s Marc Tierney. Tierney wore a bespoke colourway we would probably call White/Gold/Gold – which we must say is a pretty great looking colourway.

marc-tierney-norwich

Tierney isn’t the only player in a custom boot in the Premier League. Swansea City’s Mark Gower has been wearing his custom White/Black/Orange T90 Laser III boots for awhile but they always look better with the Swan’s away kit.

Mario Balotelli wasn’t wearing a custom colourway of boots but has been in a pair of White/Cyber/Black CTR360 Maestri boots since the season started. Having been spotted in new colourways in training Super Mario has finally worn a new pair of boots in a fixture as he wore Nike’s White/Silver/Purple CTR360 colourway this weekend.

Another great performance from Phil Jones helped Manchester United keep in touch with Balotelli and his Manchester City teammates with a 1-0 win over Aston Villa. Jones scored his first goal for United from midfield wear the new Puma PowerCat 1.12 – which delighted both himself and Fergie.

Our final boot spot comes from Arsenal’s fixture against Wigan were we were treated to three great boot spots – and we were lucky enough to get them all in one image. Not only did all three players switch boots but they were also on the score sheet. Thomas Vermaelen found his scoring touch to hand the Gunners the lead. Vermaelen has been an Adidas Predator wearer but looks to have switched to Nike CTR360 Maestri II boots. Mikel Arteta was feature last week in Puma’s PowerCat 1.12 but opted to return to the King Finale this weekend. We thought he may be debuting their new White/Team Orange/Dark Navy colourway but was wear the older White/Black/Gold version. The final spot was Robin van Persie who was back in the Predator X! The Dutch striker wore the hugely successful Electricity/Black/Poppy colourway – which were custom made for him with an actual tongue rather than the Predator X’s fold over tongue.
