BOOT SPOTTING 26-27 NOVEMBER
Monday morning brings about another round of boot spottings from the Premier League. After the excitement of previous weekends where multiple boots made their debut, this weekend is a little less exciting but no less interesting.
Adidas’ new High Energy/Electricity/White miCoach AdiZero boots look great with some kits but one of the best must be Manchester United’s. Ashley Young has returned from a toe injury and immediately returned to his early season form.

We were a little surprised to Norwich City’s Anthony Pilkington in the new AdiZero as the Norwich winger has been wearing White/White/Warning AdiZero I boots for the most of the season – although he has been in Adidas AdiPower Predators his last two appearances.

We did however have a player in the White/White/Warning boots this weekend as Everton winger Diniyar Bilyaletdinov sported them against Bolton. Despite having no official on field support this colourway has proven to be a favorite with many players.

We think Adidas launched two great looking colourways with the MiCoach AdiZero as the Black/Warning/Electricity colourway also looks great on the pitch. Liverpool’s Stewart Downing is one player Adidas assigned the alternate colourway to.

Another player set to star in the alternate colourway is Jermain Defoe. Defoe did wear the new MiCoach AdiZero on Monday night against Aston Villa but was back (and scoring) in his Blue/White/Slime AdiZero Prime boots – perhaps because he felt they went better with his away kit?

Defoe wasn’t the only one in Blue/White/Slime AdiZero Prime boots. His strike partner Emmanuel Adebayor has yet to switch into the new MiCoach AdiZero – despite the likes of teammate Gareth Bale being in the new boots.

Another speed boot drawing plenty of attention is Puma’s new Yellow/Purple/White V1.11 Yaya Toure wore against Liverpool. The V1.11 has been a huge success since their launch and we are surprised more players have instantly switched to this new colourway.

A player who has worn almost every Puma boot that has been released recently is Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta. Arteta singed with Puma as their man King Finale wearer but switched between them and the V1.11 SL after their launch. We think he will stay in the Puma PowerCat 1.12 for awhile though.

Peter Crouch hopped straight into the new PowerCat when they were released. The lanky Stoke striker has to have his boots custom made because of his big feet. This often means getting colourways later than the rest so we may see him in the launch White/Blue/Gold colourway for awhile.

We love matching kits and boots here at TRW and we think we have found another great match. Aston Villa have a Nike sponsorship but their blue and orange keepers kit for Shay Given matches his Puma PowerCat 1.12 boots pretty well. What do you think?

BOOT SPOTTING 19-20 NOVEMBER
The return of the Premier League after an international break is always a welcome site. Last weekend saw the release of a host of boots during the International break but this weekend saw them hit Premier League pitches for the first time. Check out or boot spots from the weekend.
Once again all the hype belongs to Adidas as the new AdiZero MiCoach made their first appearance in the Premier League. The High Energy/Electricity/White colourway is a rather bold colourway which may not look great with ever kit but it certainly looked great with Luis Suarez’ Liverpool kit.

What was rather interesting was that most players opted to wear the leather version rather than the synthetic upper. This was true of Manchester City pair David Silva and Samir Nasri who helped their side keep their unbeaten recorded with a 3-1 win over Newcastle.

Wigan’s Victor Moses was another player wearing the leather High Energy/Electricity/White colourway this weekend. Wigan faced Blackburn in highly entertaining and controversial bottom of the log clash that ended 3-3.

Not everyone went for the High Energy/Electricity/White colourway Swansea City’s Wayne Routledge was one of a few players turning out in the Black/Warning/Electricity colourway.

Newcastle couldn’t keep their unbeaten record when they played Manchester City, despite the best efforts of Sammy Ameobi who also wore the Black/Warning/Electricity colourway.

Not everyone was switching into the new AdiZero however. On a weekend where everyone was looking at the new Wolves’ Nenad Milijas opted for the old as he wore a pair of first incarnation original Yellow/Black AdZero boots.

Adidas also had their new AdiPower Predator colourway making it’s Premier League debut. Sunderland’s Michael Turner was one to sport the new Black/Warning/White colourway.

Interestingly Robin van Persie didn’t switch to the new colourway. van Persie scored another double for Arsenal taking is tally to 13 for the season. With form like that it is no surprise that the Gunner’s skipper wants to stick with his current boots.

Having appeared in out boot spots a few times in a white-out version, it is great to final spot Chris Brunt in the official White-Blue-Gold Puma PowerCat 1.12 boots.

Despite all the new boots that were on display there was one pair in particular that really caught our eye – Ryan Giggs’ Reeboks. Giggs has been wearing Green/Black/Silver Instante Pro II boots but this weekend wore a pair of what looked like a White/Red colourway of his RG800 LE Pro boots. Perhaps Reebok have a special release coming up.

There was some exciting things happening boot wise outside of the Premier League as well. David Beckham wore his new Blue/White/Electricity colourway in what could be his last game for the LA Galaxy as he helped them lift the MLS Cup.

While in Spain Cristiano Ronaldo gave his brand new Blue/Red/Obsidian CR7 boots a scoring debut as Real Madrid beat Valencia 3-2.

BOOT SPOTTING 5-6 NOVEMBER
31 goals where scored over the weekend as the Premier League once again delivered some highly entertaining football. Not only was the football eye-catching, but there were also a few eye-catching boot spots from the weekend.
A lot of noise was made midweek with a host of players being spotted in black-out football boots. The majority of them were Adidas AdiZero MiCoach boots and they have made their way to the Premier League. David Silva wore them for Manchester City midweek and was backing them over the weekend and even scored as City beat QPR in a 5 goal thriller.

We are not at all surprised that Gareth Bale joined Silva in a pair of black-out AdiZero MiCoach boots. Bale is one of the core wearers of the AdiZero silo in England and will undoubtedly be one of the first in the new boots.

Another core Adidas AdiZero wearer is Liverpool’s Luis Suarez. Suarez has proven to be a great signing for Liverpool since his arrival and will undoubtedly be looking forward to wearing the High Energy/Electricity colourway – which will look great with his red Liverpool Adidas kit – instead of the black-out version.

Not every pair of all black boots are a black-out pair however. Adidas have a habit of releasing predominantly blacked-out colourways such as the Black/Electricity AdiZero Blackburn’s Junior Hoilett wears. Another colourway is the Black/Black/Gold AdiPure IV which we spotted on Stoke’s Glenn Whelan this weekend.

The AdiPure silo has seen a few players leave it to join the AdiPower Predator ranks. One such player was Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko but this weekend Dezeko was back in his AdiPures – not a bad choice as he scored his 9th goal of the season in them.

One pair of AdiPire boots we haven’t seen in the Premier League is are SL version. The AdiPure SL were released with no on field support planned but that doesn’t stop players getting themselves a pair – which it seems Stoke City’s Jermaine Pennant has.

Last week we featured a number of defenders who have switched from Nike T90 boots to Tiempo Legend IV boots. The theory that Nike are putting specific position players into specific silos was strengthen when Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic switch straight from T90 Laser III boots to the Tiempos without trying the T90 Laser IV.

It is always great to see a player who has had a long injury layoff return to action and no one will be happier than the Arsenal faithful to see Thomas Vermaelen making a strong comeback. Vermaelen isn’t just a solid defender but has scored some vital goals for the Gunners and was on the score sheet again this weekend in his Adidas AdiPower Predators.

Another player making a return from injury is Jermain Jenas. The Spurs midfielder is on-loan at Aston Villa but hasn’t had an opportunity to make his mark due to injury. He put in a good performance this weekend wearing a pair of Black/White/Challenge Red Nike CTR360 Maestri II boots.

Sir Alex Ferguson celebrated 25 years at Manchester United with a 1-0 win over Sunderland this weekend. He gave David De Gea a rest and put Anders Lindegaard in goal for the game at Old Trafford. Lindergaard has impressed whenever given the gloves and did so again this weekend. Lindergaard is one of very few goalkeepers who wear speed boots but the Dane has stuck with his Black/Circuit Orange/Black Nike Superfly II boots for a while now.

Not only was it a great weekend of football and boot spotting but it was also the debut of the High Visibility version of Nike’s Sietiro ball. The new ball was officially unveiled last week and was used across the Premier League for the first time this weekend.

BOOT SPOTTING 29-30 OCTOBER
It’s Monday and that means it is boot spotting day once again here at TRW.
The biggest result of the weekend was Arsenal’s 5-3 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The win is a huge boost for the Gunners and was lead by their inspirational captain Robin van Persie. van Persie’s hat trick took his season’s tally to 7. van Persie’s latest goal scoring performance came in Adidas’ Champions League colourway AdiPower Predators.

Tottenham Hotspur fullback Benoit Assou-Ekotto has been wearing Adidas AdiPower Predators for a few weeks now but his latest trend seems to be wearing different colourways on each foot. Assou-Ekotto had the original launch Blue/Electricity colourway on his left foot but their Champions League colourway on his right.

Benoit’s Spurs teammate Scott Parker was featured here recently wearing Nike’s White/Silver/Purple CTR360 Maestri II colourway – which matched his Spurs away kit perfectly. This weekend however Parker opted for the Black/Tour Yellow/Silver K-Leather version of the new T90 Laser IV.

The new Nike T90 Laser IV have had a big impact on the Premier League since their launch. Not only are they a great performing boot but we think they are a great looking boot as well and that the White/Orange/Black colourway certainly went well with Moussa Dembele’s Fulham kit.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas recently switched from his usual Nike CTR360 Maestri II football boot to the Tiempo Legend IV Elite. Lucas wore the White/Volt/Gold colourway in the Reds’ victory over West Brom.

Their has been a lot of boot swopping within Nike and the theory is that the brand are attempting to get players in specific positions to wear specific boots. One of the most noticeable trends is defenders moving into Tiempo Legend IV boots. Joleon Lescott is one defender who previous wore T90 Laser III boots.

Another defender to make the switch is Aston Villa stopper James Collins. Collins was an avid CTR360 wearer but joined a host of other defenders in the White/Volt/Gold Elite colourway.

It is however not only defenders that are wearing the Tiempo Legend IV. Manchester United star Javier Hernandez recently switched into the newest version of the Tiempo after sticking with a pair of White/Volt Tiempo Legend III boots for since last season. Interestingly Hernandez has opted to wear the standard version rather than the Elite version.

The new Puma PowerCat 1.12 has officially been unveiled but it is yet to hit the Premier League. We thought they may arrive this weekend but we only got to see the usual suspects of Barton and Brunt in white-out versions. David Wheater will surely be one player to switch to the new version when it arrives but for now the Bolton defender is enjoying his White/Black/Orange colourway PowerCat 1.10 boots.

BOOT SPOTTING 22-23 OCTOBER
Once again the Premier League provided some top class entertainment as well as a few surprise results.
The weekend will undoubtedly be remembered for Manchester City’s demolition of Manchester United. The Blue side of Manchester proved they are serious title contenders now as they thumped United in their own back yard. The win was so comprehensive that Edin Dzeko could manage to grab a brace after coming off the bench. Dzeko has been an Adidas AdiPure wearer but has made the switch to the AdiPower Predator.

While City moved 5 points ahead of United at the top of the table Chelsea failed to move ahead of the champions when they were beaten by Queens Park Rangers. Their victory was partly helped by the sending off of Didier Drogba and Jose Bosingwa who, despite the release of the very similar White/Gold/Volt Tiempo Legend IV, still wears Nike’s White/Volt Tiempo Legend III Elite boots.

The new T90 Laser IV has had a good start to their career. Most Nike T90 Laser IV wearers have opted for the launch White/Orange/Black colourway but Wolves’ stopper Wayne Hennessey is one of the few who have opted to wear the Black/Yellow/Silver K-Leather version.

There were some impressive goals scored this weekend while the best was arguably belonged Royston Drenthe. The Real Madrid man is on loan for the season and has a huge impact on the Merseyside. His long range thunder bolt helped Everton secure a 3-1 win over Fulham. The CTR360 isnt know as a power boot but the Dutchman certainly generated enough power from his Black/White/Challenge Red pair.

We are big fans of the Umbro GT Pro here at TRW. Kyle Walker is the most noticeable wearer of the Umbro speed boot but he is joined by fellow England U21 teammate Connor Wickham. The young Sunderland striker is a great prospect and impressed for the Black Cats this weekend in a pair of Red/Silver GT Pro boots.

Paul Sharner is an odd case when it comes to boots. The West Bromwich Albion star is an avid Puma wearer but has chopped and changed within the brand over the past year. Most frequently a PowerCat wearer, Sharner opted for a pair of White/Red/Black V1.11SL boots this weekend.

It is great to see Newcastle winger Hatem Ben Arfa back. The pacey winger is continuing his comeback from a horrific broken leg but looks to have no boot sponsorship. Hatem has worn Nike Mercurial, Adidas AdiZero and Pantofola d’Oro boots but appeared in a (badly attempted black-out) pair of Nike Superfly III boots this weekend.

Another exciting player to watch who is returning from injury is Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon. Lennon has returned to Premier League action this weekend having made an appearance midweek in the Europa League. Lennon wore Nike’s eye-catching Volt/Purple/Retro Superfly III boots.

Having Adidas as their technical supplier it is no wonder the Liverpool players always have the latest Adidas boot colourways. This weekend saw four Red star all wearing the Blue/White/Slime F50 AdiZero colourway. Stewart Downing and Jose Enrique both wore the Prime version while Luis Suarez and Craig Bellamy both opted for the leather version.

The biggest talking point in the football boot world this weekend was the official debut of the new Puma PowerCat 1.12. New signing Cesc Fabregas gave the new boots their first official sighting when he turned out for Barcelona against Sevilla.

Despite the official release of the new PowerCat 1.12 a few Premier League players were still wearing white-out version. We have often spotted QPR skipper Joey Barton in the white-out boots and he wore them again this weekend as did Arsenal’s Johan Djourou.

MANCHESTER DERBY PREVIEW
The North West Derby of Manchester United vs. Liverpool has often been seen as the pinnacle of English football rivalry. Last weekend the great North West clubs fought their way to a 1-1 draw in what wouldn’t go down as classic derby. The North West derby certainly isn’t losing its appeal but it should be aware of another derby that is becoming increasingly illustrious – the Manchester derby.

The last time these two met United took the spoils.
In the past Manchester United have largely dominated the Manchester derby as they have risen to the pinnacle of English football while City have been seen as the ‘noisy neighbors’. (United have won the last 6 League derbies and have only lost to City once at Old Trafford since 27 April 1974.) The large investment in players by City’s new owners has been well documented but it is this investment that has made the Manchester derby that much more juicy.
For the first time since City’s spending spree begun, the Blue side of Manchester are serious title contenders. City currently sit at the top of the Premier League table and travel 4 miles across Manchester to face United at the Theatre of Dreams, 2 points ahead of the reigning champions. City also have a superior goal difference of 2. The top 3 places in the race of the Golden Boot are all taken up by players from Manchester with Rooney leading the way on 9 followed by the City pair of Aguero (8) and Dzeko (6).

Rooney and Aguero – the Premier League’s most prolific strikers.
When it comes to the brand wars there is some interesting reading. Nike will have a strong presence at the derby with the game being played at Old Trafford. Manchester United have the heaviest Nike influence with Rooney, Chicarito and Welbeck up front all wearing Nike while Ferdidnand, Evra and Smalling in defense all wear Nike.
Adidas own the creative side of the game where almost every game changer wears the three stripe brand. Manchester City will look to the likes of Silva and Nasri to provide the spark for Dzeko. United will rely on the individual brilliance of Young and Nani and possibly the industry of Anderson and Fletcher.

Adidas AdiZero pair Silva and Young could be the key to unlocking the opposition’s defense.
There is a stronger Puma representation than ever before. Usually it was up to Carrick and Vidic to put in a good show for the German giants but the acquisition of Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero changes that. Nigel De Jong will also be looking to have a big impact on the game in his Puma King Finale boots.
In the end it could come down to the keepers with both number 1s fully kitted out (boots, gloves and kits) in their respective brands. David De Gea isn’t a household name at Nike unlike Joe Hart who is a major player for Umbro.
With this being; possibly the most competitive meeting these two clubs have had, the thrill of the top two teams going head to head, the leagues top scorers facing each other, the reigning champions against the pretenders and the heat of derby – we expect an amazing spectacle.

Few will forget ‘that goal’ Wayne Rooney scored in their last Premier League meeting (12th February 2011).
(As a side thought.) There is one thing that will unite the two Manchester club’s fans ahead of the 161st Manchester derby this weekend – their mutual dislike of Carlos Tevez…
BOOT SPOTTING 15-16 OCTOBER
The Premier League returned this weekend after a short international break. We were once again treated to some wonderful football and as usual, we will treat you to some wonderful boot spots from the weekend.
Puma were grabbing all the headlines a few weeks ago with players popping up in Puma boots left, right and centre. That now seems to have slowed down a little however. We never received an official announcement that Yaya Toure had joined Puma but the Manchester City star looks very comfortable in these leather V1.11 boots complete with his personalization.

Adidas have developed a tradition of releasing their boots in a black-out colourway – a tradition that has become an instant fan favorite. It isn’t often that we spot the black-out colourways but Blackburn Rovers star Junior Hoilett gave us a sighting this weekend when he wore the Black/Black/Electricity AdiZero boots.

Mark Schwazer has been featured on our boot spots before as he is the only player in the Premier League to wear Mitre boots. That now seems to be over as the Fulham stopper was spotted this weekend in a pair of Adidas AdiPower Predator boots.

A new boot always takes a while to filter down through the league and that is what is happening with Nike’s recently released T90 Laser IV boots. Many starts have already switched to the new boots but more and more players are spotted in them each week. This week Chris Smalling joined Rooney and Ferdidnad in the new boots.

Daniel Sturridge has been outstanding for Chelsea this season and is surely on the verge of a senior international call up. His U21 teammates Danny Welbeck, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling have all moved up and Sturridge may be hoping that switching from Adidas Predator X to Nike T90 Laser IV boots help secure him a spot.

Norwich defender Russell Martin scored his side’s second of three goals as Norwich beat fellow promoted side Swansea 3-1 on Saturday. Martin wore Umbro’ Geometra Pro football boots in their launch White/Black/Red colourway.

The Geometra got a colour upgrade this week when Umbro released the new Black/White/Blue colourway. We had already seen them on Newcastle’s Jonas Gutierrez but the Geometra’s main man Jordan Henderson appeared in them for the first time this weekend when he came off the bench against Manchester United.

Ledley King has often been rated one of the best centre backs in England but has been blighted by injury most of his career. The Spurs stopper has had a good run of late however in his Adidas AdiPure IV boots but that came to an end this weekend when he pulled up with an abductor muscle problem.

King’s teammate Scott Parker has interested boot fans for a while. Parker has worn black-out Nike T90 Laser III boots for a long time but finally seems to have decided to upgrade. Parker wore Nike’s Purple/White/Silver CTR360 Meastri II boots – which looked pretty good with his Puma third kit.

We have watched Sunderland’s Stephane Sessegnon for the past few weeks and it looks like the Beninese man is going to become a boot spotting favourite and join the likes of Hugo Rodellega and Jon Walters who seem to erratically change boots at will. Sessegnon was stuck in Warning/Black AdiZero boots for awhile then switched to Nike Tiempo Legend IV boots before returning to his AdiZeros. This weekend however Sessegnon was spotted wearing Adidas Copa Mundial boots with a trimmed tongue.

BOOT SPOTTING 1-2 OCTOBER
Another weekend of brilliant football was produced by the stars of the Premier League. 17 goals were scored on Sunday alone and TRW bring you some of the best boot spots from the weekend’s action.
This weekend saw the new Nike colourways make their debut on the field. We weren’t sure who’s kit the new White/Silver/Purple CTR360 Maestri II colourway would match but it turns it that it goes perfectly with Arsenal’s goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny’s. Szczesny has been outstanding for the Gunners and pulled of some fine saves against Spurs but wasn’t able to keep them all out as his side went down 2-1.

Nike’s Volt/Purple/Retro Superfly III colourway seems to have become an instant favourite with a host of players switching to the new colourway. The most surprising of them was Swansea’s Scott Sinclair. The ex-Chelsea winger has been in White/Black/Pink Superfly I boots for most of the this season and last.

Sinclair scored from the spot and the switched seemed to pay off for Manchester City winger Adam Johnson as well. Johnson made the most of a rare opportunity to turn out for City by getting his name on the score sheet – which made have helped him get his England call up.

One player who may feel hard done by when the England squad was announced is Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor. The Villa striker has been in exceptional form and put in another goal scoring performance this weekend as his side beat Wigan Atheltic.

History was made on Sunday afternoon when Andy Johnson scored Fulham’s first ever hat-trick. The England striker lead the charge as Fulham put 6 past QPR. QPR had no answer for Johnson who scored a hat-trick for the Cottagers in a pair of White/Slime/Blue AdiZero boots.

It was a pretty good weekend for English strikers as Liverpool’s Andy Carroll also found the back of the net. Carroll is yet to truly impress in a Liverpool shirt but would have won himself much favour with the Red’s fans when he opened the scoring against Merseyside rivals Everton. Carrol was in Umbro’s White/Blue Special R boots.

A lot has been said about Frank Lampard and his future over the past few weeks. The headlines this week will undoubtedly read ‘Lampard is back’ after the Chelsea midfielder put in a vintage display against Bolton Wanderers to grab himself a hat-trick. Lampard’s display was pure class, as are his White/Gold/Black Adidas AdiPure IV boots.

There is a lot of great young English talent in the Premier League at the moment. One of the players catching the eye at the moment is Tottenham Hotspur fullback Kyle Walker. Walker’s return from loan has seen him establish himself as the first choice right back for Harry and his wonder goal against Arsenal this weekend will only serve to cement that place. Walker is one of the few people wearing Umbro’s GT Pro range of boots and is currently in the Yellow/Silver colourway.

Danny Welbeck is another player England fans are hoping will help restore the national side’s fortunes. The return to fitness of Welbeck is a major boost for Manchetser United as the lanky striker was instrumental in the fine form United produced at the start of the season. Welbeck has stuck with his Black/Orange Tiemo Legend IV Elite boots.

Our final boot spots of a pair of boots that we have featured a few times on out Boot Spots and arguably one of the most talked about boots at the moment. For a boot that hasn’t even officially been released the Puma PowerCat 1.12 certainly is in demand. Many player such as Barton, Arteta, Carrick, Jones and of course Cesc Fabregas have been spotted wearing white-out versions of the boot and this weekend West Brom’s Chris Brunt was giving them a run out against Sunderland.

BOOT SPOTTING 24-25 SEPTEMBER
It’s Monday and that can only mean one thing… boot spots! This weekend was a typical Premier League weekend with a host of goals, controversy and red cards. It was also full of great boots spots. Check our last batch of boot spots from the Premier League.
Last weekend saw the new Nike T90 Laser IV make their debut and this weekend saw more T90 wearers move into the new version. Newcastle’s Stephan Taylor wore the new T90 Laser IV as his side eased past Blackburn Rovers to remain in 4th spot.

Rio Ferdinand made his return at the heart of Manchester United’s defence after pulling up in United’s opening game of the season. Rio may not get as much game time this season with the rise of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones but looked solid on his return – wearing the new T90 for the first time.

A few players made comebacks this weekend. Didier Drogba hasn’t had a long injury layoff but returned from a head injury to help Chelsea brush aside Swansea. The big Ivorian wore Granite/Purple/White/Red Superfly III boots complete with Nike Red laces.

Steven Gerrard made his long awaited return to the Premier League in Liverpool’s victory over Wolves. Gerrard only wears black boots abut and as expected wore Adidas’ Black/White/Red AdiPower Predators.

Tottenham Hotspur welcomed midfielder Sandro back this weekend. The Brazilian ended last season in fine form and his return will be a welcomed boost. We are not so sure about his new haircut and eye-catching gum guard… but we are big fans of Adidas’ new UCL White/Purple AdiPower Predator colourway which Sandro wore.

Peter Odemwingie has been featured in our boots pots a few times with the West Brom striker often switching boots. Odemwingie has been in Nike Superfly and Adidas AdiZero boots but this weekend opted for a pair of White/Blue/Electricity AdiPower Predators.

Another player to have switched boots is Bolton striker Kevin Davis. Davis has been in AdiPure I boots for much of the past 2 season but must have run out of them as he was in a pair of Black/Zero Metallic/Blue AdiPure III boots this weekend.

DJ Campbell (left) is also a boot spotting favourite with the ex-Blackpool player wearing a host of different boots. This weekend DJ matched a pair of rugby boots to his QPR kit. The RS7 is the rugby version of AdiZero and, perhaps in celebration of the World Cup, DJ wore a pair of the Red/White colourway boots this weekend.

STARS RETURN TO ACTION FOR MAN CITY
Last night saw the return of two forgotten heroes of the Premier League as Owen Hargreaves and Kolo Toure made their first appearance of the season against Birmingham City in the Carling Cup. Hargreaves’ was released from Manchester United after playing virtually no football for 2 years, while Toure returned from a 6 month ban having tested positive to a banned substance.

The return to a football field was a successful one for Hargreaves as the England start made it through 60 minutes without needing a stretcher but – more dramatically – also scored a blinder of a goal to give his new team the lead. Hargreaves’ ability has never been doubted his injury layoff obviously hasn’t affected his quality.
Football has moved on a little since Hargreaves last played and it is likely that Owen doesn’t have a boot sponsor at the moment as he wore a pair of Team Red/Metallic Gold/Metallic White Nike CTR360 Maestri boots which were released around April last year. If Hargreaves can stay fit and keep producing performances like he did last night he will undoubtedly have a big brand after him in no time however.

Kolo Toure was club captain before his wife’s weight loss pills resulted in his ban. He got to feel the weight of the armband once again when he made his return last night. Toure also joined the list of players wearing the new Adidas AdiPower Predator – which doesn’t come as a surprise as Toure was an Adidas Predator wearer before his ban.
