NIKE UNVEILS FIRST ENGLAND KIT
The new England kit was unveiled today, with the first official sighting via a picture posted on twitter by England midfielder Jack Wilshere of a pupil at his former school wearing the jersey, demonstrating that the kit belongs to the nation, not just the players lucky enough to represent England. Following its reveal via social media, Nike has created a campaign emphasising that while the kit may feature technical innovation and performance benefits, it cannot win games by itself, and it is what the players do in it that counts.
Wilshere arrived to watch a training session at The Priory School in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, before picking out lucky student Jason Kelly to wear and reveal the shirt for the first time .
“This is where my dream of playing for England started and it’s great to be back here to see a new generation playing with the same passion,” Wilshere said. “I gave Jason the shirt because his commitment and work-rate really impressed me today, he showed that it’s what you do on the pitch that matters — from your first match as a nine year-old all the way up to the international stage.”
A clean, distinctive design takes the kit back to its roots with its traditional colors of white and dark blue to celebrate the Football Association’s 150th anniversary. The iconic three lions crest was prominently featured in dark blue on the team’s first kit, and once again, the crest is the proud focus – now with a gold border, a gold star above it signifying England’s World Cup win, and a gold ribbon graphic below inscribed with “150 years” and the dates 1863 and 2013, marking the Football Association’s anniversary.
The blue on the new kit is the same dark blue colour that featured on England’s first kit. Embodying the clean lines and understated style of the best of English fashion, the white shirt features a dark blue classic crew neck collar, while two side vents on the hem of the shirt subtly feature the St George’s cross. The shorts are entirely dark blue and the socks are white with a thin dark blue band at the top.
The kit showcases Nike’s belief in style, craft and pride while aiding the performance of players with key technological features. The kit is made from recycled polyester as part of Nike’s commitment to produce performance apparel with reduced environmental impact. The shirt and shorts of each kit are made from up to thirteen recycled plastic water bottles.
In the pioneering process, plastic bottles are chopped into flakes, then melted down to form yarn that is spun into fabric, reducing energy consumption by up to 30 percent compared to manufacturing virgin polyester. Since 2010, Nike has diverted more than 1.1 billion plastic bottles from landfill through the use of recycled polyester.
The kit weighs just 150 grams, 23 percent lighter than previous Nike kits. It also boasts a 20 percent stronger knit structure and significantly improved stretch. The fabric uses Nike Dri-FIT technology to draw sweat away from the body through the fabric where it can evaporate, to keep players cool and dry.
Ventilation zones, consisting of tiny laser-cut holes, feature under the arms on both sides, as well as at the shorts waistband, to allow additional comfort and cooling. A mesh panel across the entire back increases air circulation.
To aid fit and construction, Nike embarked on an innovative programme of 3D body scans of some of the world’s leading players to produce a more athletic fit tailored to footballers’ physiques. The shirt has been crafted with bonded T-bars to support the seams at key points and inner welded seams with a clean finish to give a more striking appearance, while also increasing comfort and performance.
NIKE JUVENTUS 2013/14 HOME KIT
Juventus Football Club stays true to its roots with a traditional home kit for next season. The sleek fitted jersey features the club’s famous black and white stripes, this time in a thinner style reminiscent of the kits Juventus wore during its dominant run in the 1980s.
The shirt has a lowered white V-neck collar — also inspired by the 1980s kits — a black stripe print on the cuffs, and two side vents on the hem with a flash of black. The bold, bonded black tape at the bottom of the V-neck is a nod to Turin, home to Juventus and the industrial capital of Italy.
Inside the neck is a woven label featuring a shield with the club’s founding year of 1897. On the back of the shirt is the familiar black panel unique to Juventus to hold the players’ names and numbers.
The home shorts are black with a printed stripe along each side, while the socks are white with a black block on the back to give players greater visual acuity on the pitch.
The kit showcases Nike’s inherent belief in style, craft and strong aesthetics, while aiding the performance of players with key technological features.

NIKE MERCURIAL 15TH ANNIVERSARY VAPOR IX SE
In 1998 Nike launched the first Mercurial football boot — a shoe inspired by and designed for an athlete who was playing an entirely new brand of football. The player was Brasilian football phenomenon Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, popularly dubbed “El Fenómeno,” but more commonly known as Ronaldo.
The tagline for the Nike Mercurial launch ad campaign, “Ultralight, so your legs can be as fast as your imagination,” spoke to Ronaldo’s unbelievable creativity and speed. Ronaldo not only captured the imagination with his style, speed, skill and instictive eye for a goal, but he also helped reignite the reputation of Brasilian football. His influence continues to guide exceptional players like Neymar as they follow in his footsteps.
Ronaldo is closely associated with the original silver-yellow-blue Nike Mercurial he wore in France during the summer of 1998. Among a field of black and white, the Nike Mercurial stood out for it’s sleek shape and colourful, speed-inspired visual design. To celebrate 15 years of the iconic boot, Nike has created a Mercurial Vapor IX inspired by the 1998 design.
“Ronaldo’s impact on the game 15 years ago was immense, and in the run up to 2014, we wanted to celebrate that boot and the man himself. We thought a modern construction of his 1998 boot would be a great commemoration of that moment.” said Phil McCartney, VP of Football Footwear for Nike.
“In the years since the first Mercurial boot was created, modern construction has allowed for a more refined way of making boots. For example, the original version of this boot was constructed of multiple materials stitched together, McCartney elaborated. “This version is a one-piece, seamless upper as per other Nike Vapor Mercurial IX editions.
In addition to rethinking the construction, the team approached the boot with a 2013 visual in mind. The yellow from the 1998 version is replaced by the distinctive Volt hue that became synonymous with Nike design on the running track in London last summer. The original silver is updated with a metallic finish.
1,998 pairs of the Mercurial IX Special Edition will be available from May 8 at select retailers around the world, including nike.com.

Featuring design and performance innovation that offer superb responsiveness, touch and ball flight, the Nike Maxim is enhanced with Nike RaDaR (Rapid Decision and Response) technology, a lab and field-tested standard of visual performance that allows players to see the ball better and helps them make split second, game changing decisions.
To maximize first touch and distribution, a five layer construction guarantees optimal first touch whilst a 360° sweet spot provides a consistent response off the foot. Meanwhile the Geo II Balanced Technology, an aerodynamic textured casing, delivers an accurate and powerful strike, no matter where you hit the ball.
NIKE UNVEIL NEW CR7 COLLECTION
Nike’s Summer 13 CR7 Collection Taps Velocity to Highlight Cristiano Ronaldo’s Explosive Speed
Like all great athletes, Cristiano Ronaldo loves to win and hates to lose. And when he wins, he prefers to do it at speed – explosive speed. Not only is pace one of the hallmarks of Cristiano’s game, it also defines the bold, distinctive spirit of the new CR7 Collection.
Design inspiration comes from Cristiano’s love for all things fast. The collection includes the new colorway of the CR Mercurial Vapor IX boot, performance training items and a variety of polos and tees. Each element is aesthetically inspired by velocity in sport.
The signature CR Mercurial Vapor IX boot has been reworked with this season’s version a fusion of White/Neon Orange and a Neon Yellow/Orange safari print inspired by the safari print that was first seen on a Cristiano Ronaldo product in HO10 on the Mercurial Vapor Superfly II.
Beyond its striking design, the boot features an engineered upper that enhances support and touch allowing Ronaldo to perform at high levels of speed and skill. A leather like finish on the upper – preferred by the athlete, and Nike’s innovative All Conditions Control (ACC) technology further aids his performance; the special treatment now used on all Nike boots ensures a consistent touch whether playing in wet or dry conditions weather.
Horizontal black and neon yellow lines link the shoe to the collection’s overarching inspiration of speed. The “love to win, hate to lose” logo on the heel is a nod to Ronaldo’s inspiration as he explodes past how opponents on his way towards goal.
This same vibrant color combination classifies the CR7 Mercurial Lite shin guards, CR7 Prestige ball and CR7 Cheyenne backpack, while additional training items appear in monochrome.
The speed inspiration is also clear to see in the lifestyle items in the collection, particularly with the CR7 Pique Polo and CR7 V-neck T-shirt. There it is represented in the flashes of green, blue, red and white that run across the body. The Graphic Top for training opts for green and cream stripes combined with white shorts. The apparel pieces are constructed of premium materials and carry the CR7 trademark “love to win, hate to lose” heart-with-cross logo.
The white button-down Saturday Jacket with drawstring hem and front patch pockets and vintage-inspired Nike Tennis Classic, Cristiano’s favorite sneaker, complete the summer range. The CR7 Collection will be available from nikestore.com from April 11.
NIKE CTR360 MAESTRI III – WHITE/CRIMSON/BLACK
Nike’s 6th CTR360 Maestri III colourway is perhaps not the most eye-catching nor is it as fresh looking as the new Mint/Black/Lime colourway. However the new White/Crimson/Black combination will certainly be a big hit with boot fans.
Made for the midfield maestro, the new CTR360 Maestri III is reengineered to deliver enhanced control, traction, support and lightweight comfort. Using next generation Kanga-Lite synthetic material for an assured touch and durability, the new boot also features new All Conditions Control (ACC) technology, providing the same level of control in either dry or wet conditions.
Innovations include a revamped 3D control pad that uses separate strips with fins of varying sizes to hug the arch and maximize contact with the ball, optimizing receiving and passing accuracy.
An asymmetrical lacing system enlarges the area used to control the ball and a new streamlined design enhances touch sensitivity. A dimpled texture on the midfoot increases friction, once again aiding the players control and touch.
The new and more responsive plate features a 360 degree stud placement – the boot deploys round studs on the medial side and blades on the lateral – is designed to provide premium comfort; perfect for the midfielder’s constant turns, and cuts through the pitch.
NIKE MERCURIAL VAPOR IX – NEPTUNE BLUE/VOLT/BLUE
Nike’s Mercurial range has combined performance innovation and eye-catching design since its original launch over 10 years ago, the Mercurial has always stood out. Bold and exciting, the boot’s color and design has always ensured its players are noticed and the newest Neptune Blue/Volt/Blue Vapor IX colourway will certainly catch the eye.
The Mercurial Vapor IX is engineered with a completely new upper to deliver a level of support and touch for players to deliver a deadly combination of speed and skill when it matters most. Nike’s new Speed Control texture on the upper gives players the confidence to perform at speed with enhanced friction that combines with a snug and responsive fit — a hallmark of Mercurial boots.
The Speed Control texture wraps around the foot, giving the boot friction when necessary without compromising on the soft touch the player requires. The upper also locks down the foot and prevents unnecessary movement within the boot, while a minimal and soft heel area maximizes comfort and therefore the performance of those wearing them.
Nike’s innovative All Conditions Control (ACC) technology further aids performance; the special treatment now used on all Nike boots ensures a consistent touch whether playing in wet or dry weather.
Traction is everything for the player who relies on explosive speed and who wears the Mercurial Vapor IX. Twin studs at the back allow for a quick release from the turf, and the asymmetric design of the stud configuration delivers an explosive start. Highly responsive blades also allow for game-altering changes in direction at speed. The Mercurial Vapor IX features a unique, lightweight plate, incorporating two different pieces of glass fiber that increase flexibility and responsiveness, providing energy return in the heat of the game.
