Tomorrow night will see England take on newly crowned African Cup of Nations champions Egypt at Wembley. It will be the first outing for four of Umbro’s newest products.

The new England away jersey was designed by Aitor Throup who also worked closely with Umbro and Fabio Capello on the new England home jersey.

Umbro’s tag line ‘Tailored by’ is an inspiration from the past as is the design of the new kit which has a distinct 1966 look about it.

The new jersey was first seen on Kasabian front man Tom Meighan. He wore it for their encore when they played at the famous Paris Olympia theatre on February 8th.

Along with the new jersey, be sure to look out for the England Red Speciali boots. Most likely to be worn be John Terry and Steven Warnock, (if he plays) the newest Speciali colourway is a collectors edition featuring the Three Lions crest on the sole. They are very much a ‘special’ collectors edition as there will only be 300 pairs available.

ARGENTINA’S NEW AWAY JERSEY FROM ADIDAS

Posted on Friday, February 12, 2010 in Kit and Apparel

Argentina’s new away jersey has drawn inspiration from the jersey used in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Every Argentinian will remember that World Cup for two reasons: They lifted the trophy for the second time and were helped along the road by the ‘hand of god’ goal, courtesy of Diego Maradona. Maradona now leads the team as coach, not player and will be hoping the new jersey inspires his charges to more World Cup glory.

This new jersey has already seen action when a locally-based Argentinian side secured a 2-1 victory over Jamaica in Buenos Aires.

Adidas have released the new away jersey for the country of their origin.

Germany hosted the World Cup in 2006 and will be hoping to leave an impression on this one. Their new all black away jersey draws inspiration from the first time Germany ran out as a national soccer team in 1898.

NIKE UNVEILS KAIZER CHIEFS 40TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL EDITION TEAM KIT

Posted on Monday, December 14, 2009 in Kit and Apparel

Nike Kaizer Chiefs Special Edition Kit

Thursday saw Nike South Africa unveil the Kaizer Chiefs 40th Anniversary Special Edition team football kit that draws inspiration from the glorious past of the black and gold club. The Special Edition kit was worn by the team for the first time last Saturday, December 12th against Bloemfontein Celtic, at Loftus Stadium, Pretoria.
Kaizer Chiefs will continue to wear the Special Edition kit during all home games in the 2009/2010 season.

The jersey recalls that worn by the Amakhosi 40 years ago, in that it is predominantly black and featuring the iconic Kaizer Chiefs gold on the rib collar, sleeves and cuffs.
“In this jersey we have gone back to our roots, with the classic look and feel. There was a natural attachment to the colour black when the club was formed, as this was the team colour of my previous club, however it was the striking touch of gold which brought the jersey to life. There were many reasons on why we chose to add a touch of gold – one being we were in a City of Gold, Johannesburg, and also that it was bright and glamorous,” said Kaizer Motaung, Executive Chairman, Kaizer Chiefs.

“Nike has incorporated the best of their innovative technologies in this special kit, and I am hopeful that this will inject more energy into the team as we celebrate 40 years of existence.”
Says Davide Cardarelli, General Manager, Nike South Africa: “Nike is very excited to launch this brand new third celebratory jersey of the incredible and successful Kaizer Chiefs. Looking back at all the legends that have made this club what it is today you understand the privilege and the responsibility of being a Kaizer Chiefs player – a responsibility to remember the past, respect the heritage and embrace the future.”

The classy, stylish look of the jersey features being made out of 100% polyester, and Nike’s famous Dri-FIT material, which is designed exclusively to improve the athlete’s performance by absorbing moisture away from the body.  By taking sweat away from the skin, the players stay cooler and lighter, thereby allowing them to perform at optimum level.
The jersey is embroidered with the Nike Swoosh design trademark and the official Kaizer Chiefs crest.  The special embroidery of “1970 – 2010 40th Anniversary” is featured under the team crest, calling out the glory years of the past.
The headline club sponsor Vodacom, is emblazoned across the chest of the jersey.
All these distinguishing details are featured in the unique Kaizer Chiefs gold.
Other significant features of the team jersey include the South African flag on the inside of the back neckline and a “1970 – 2010 40th Anniversary” label on the side-seam.

The new jersey, and replica supporter’s jersey are available in leading retail now, along with a full range of Kaizer Chiefs 40th Anniversary Special Edition fan-wear and accessories.
