NEW NIKE COLOURWAYS

Posted on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in Boots

Nike have released a new collection of colourways for the CTR360, T90 Laser III, Tiempo Legend III, Vapor VI and Superfly II. There are no modifications to the technology of these boots but rather just a new coat of paint.

CTR360 Meastri: Blue Sapphire/White/Black

The CTR360 burst onto the scene when they were first released and have continued to gain an increased fan base. The release of the new Blue Sapphire/White/Black could very well see a few more players switch over to the CTR360. One player we can think of who may just commit himself is Florent Malouda. The French star has been in and out of CTRs since preseason and we think this new colourway will look brilliant with the Chelsea kit.

Tiempo Legend III: Pearl/Black/Team Orange

Tiempo’s are known for the softness of the kangaroo leather upper and having been around since 1984 you would expect Nike to have developed one of the best touch boots on the market. This new Pearl/Black/Team Orange colourway certainly proves that these boots are designed for classy players.

Mercurial Vapor VI/Superfly II: Cherry/Obsidian/Silver

Nike, in many ways, were the creators of the ‘speed boot’ and have become leaders in the field. They do currently offer the heaviest boot on the market after the release of the AdiZero and Puma V1.10 SL. One area where Nike will most likely never be outshone however, is in the loud, bold, look-at-me, eye-catching colourways they release. That is as true as ever with the new Cherry/Obsidian/Silver Superfly and Vapor colourway.

T90 Laser III: Platinum/Orange Blaze/Black

Nike have released two new colourways for the T90 Laser III, one of which is exclusively for their K-Leather version. There are currently three options when buying a pair of T90 Laser II boots. The original version which boasts a plethora of accuracy enhancing technologies arrives in the new Platinum/Orange Blaze/Black version. The T90 Laser III Elite Series boots have the same Platinum/Orange Blaze/Black colourway and are a ‘stripped out’ version of the original and are 16% lighter.

You can expect these colourways to be available in South Africa in October.

NEW NIKE BOOT COLOURWAYS

Posted on Thursday, July 22, 2010 in Boots

Nike have released a plethora of boots in the last week with new colourways featured for both the ’standard’ and Elite models.

We start with the Vapor and Superfly II. The speed boot battle seems to be hotter than ever. Adidas released a real contender with the AdiZero, while Puma’s new V1.10 SL promises to get people talking. Even Umbro have entered the competition with the GT… Nike will still claim to have a firm grip on the market however and their new colourway; Bright Cactus/White/Anthracite will certainly keep people interested.

This new colourway is available in both the Elite and ’standard’ version.

The CTR360 has grown to become one of the best boots on the market. They already have small bragging rights like the fact that they scored the goal to win Spain the World Cup final. Well Andreas Iniesta scored the goal… but he was wearing CTRs.  Now Nike release their newest colourway; Black/White/Retro. We have always enjoyed the two-tone colourways of the CTR360 and Nike have added a new look with the colours fading into each other rather than there being two distinct colours. We really like this new colourway.

This new colourway is available in both the Elite and ’standard’ version.

A colourway that is not currently available in the Elite series is this new White/Cyber/Black colourway. Again Nike have chosen to fade one colour into another and we really enjoy the effect. The ‘Cyber’ certainly stands out on this colourway and we look forward to seeing these in motion!

After what was not a great World Cup for either Rooney or Torres, two of the Premier League’s top strikers now have a chance to rectify their poor form. And they could be doing it in these; the new Nike T90 Laser III Challenge Red/White/Black colourway. Or you could call it ‘The Manchester United’ or ‘The Liverpool’…

nike-t90-laser-iii-elite

This new colourway is available in both the Elite and ’standard’ version.

The bright red colourway will match perfectly with either kit and we have already had the opportunity to see the boots with the new United kit on their pre-season tour to the USA. Rooney is still on holiday recovering from the World Cup but it seems this colourway is already a hit with both Darren Gibson and Paul Scholes.

Another colourway that is not currently available in the Elite series is the K-Leather T90 Laser III. Having noted how good the Challenge Red/White/Black boots would look with Fernando Torres’  Liverpool kit, don’t be surprised if the Spanish star comes out in a pair of these White/Photo Blue/Charcoal boots. The Liverpool star is notoriously fussy about his boots and prefers a white pair. We can see why – these ooze class.

nike-t90-laser-III-k-leather

The last colourway is a classic looking colourway for the Nike Tiempo Legend III. One of the games’ all time greatest boots; the Legends return in a White/Seaweed/Red colourway.

This new colourway is available in both the Elite and ’standard’ version.

So which colourway is your favourite?

NEW NIKE CTR360, T90 LASER III AND TIEMPO LEGEND III COLOURWAYS

Posted on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in Boots

Nike released a stack of new colouways over the weekend, most of which made their Premier League debut. We take a look at three of them here.

The first is what has quickly become known as the ‘Arsenal’ CTR360. Their official name is Team Red/Metallic Gold/Metallic White and they were first seen on T.R.W in an  article about Owen Hargreaves’ playing return last week Thursday. We expect these to become the boot Cesc Fabregas can’t be seen without (except for this weekend) and possibly the likes of James Milner too. This colourway would also be complimentary to the kits of West Ham and Burnley. Irrelevant of whoever wears them, they are a great addition to the CTR360 range.

ctr360-red-white-gold

The second boot is the exotically named Neptune Blue/Vibrant Yellow/Black T90 Laser football boots. They made their scoring debut on the feet of Wayne Rooney. Rooney slotted home against Liverpool after his penalty had initially been saved by Pepe Reina. This eye-catching colourway is another in a long line of ‘crazy’ colour combinations Nike have released. No club plays in ‘Neptune Blue’ kits so we are not really sure who to recommend these to. Aston Villa’s sleeves are about as close as it gets.

T90-Laser-neptune-blue-yellow-black

The last pair is a classic black pair of Tiempo Legend III football boots. The name, Black/White/Metallic Gold isn’t as fancy sounding as ‘Team Red’ or ‘Neptune Blue’ but Tiempos aren’t about being flashy. The Tiempos have built a real name for themselves in the Touch/Heritage market. Their soft leather and quality build make them strong, reliable and comfortable. These boots also made a scoring debut against Liverpool.  Well if Park Ji-Sung’s head counts…

FOOTBALL’S FAIRYTALE NIGHT

Posted on Friday, March 19, 2010 in Boots

Last night saw some amazing things happen in the world of football. Fulham played host to Juventus. The Italian giants had a 3-1 aggregate lead over the London club. This was increased to 4-1 after just 2 minutes thanks to David Trezeguet. That should have been the end of Roy Hodgson’s men. It wasn’t. A goal from Zamora and a Gera brace brought the teams level. Enter Clint Dempsey. The American winger sent the Cottage faithful into wild celebration with his dainty chip over Juve keeper, Antonio Chimenti. Fulham held on to win the tie 5-4 on aggregate. Dempsey’s chip was a historic moment for Fulham. It was also the first competitive outing for the new Nike Superfly II. Dempsey’s cheeky flick won’t be the last time a player sporting Superfly II’s will make us go: ‘Wow!’

clint-dempsey

In a slightly less glamorous affair, but not less fairytale-like, Owen Hargreaves made his long awaited return to football in a reserves match against Burnley. The United reserves came out 2-0 winners on the night. Hargreaves played a full 45 minutes before being replaced. This will no doubt excite Manchester United fans all around the world. It will also give a few England fans a reason to smile. Hargreaves still has a long way to go before he can seriously start talking about a World Cup place but playing is the first step. His boot choice was an interesting one. Hargreaves chose to play his first match since returning from injury in the newly released Red/Metallic Gold/Summit White Nike CTR360 Maestri boots. The midfield enforcer wore T90 Lasers before his double knee surgery. We wait expectantly to see if he carries on wearing these great looking boots boots.

XI SERIES: CTR360

Posted on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in XI Series

CTR360-XI

The release of the Nike CTR360 seems to have revolutionized the midfield. It is not just the men in the middle who are wearing this ground-breaking boot however. More and more players seem to be moving across to the CTR. Players such as Joe Cole and Heurelho Gomes have been spotted in them. The likes of Ashley Cole and Alessandro Diamanti can’t seem to take them off. Making up our XI was suprisingly difficult. Who do you pick in the midfield with so many options available? There are not a plethora of options in goal or upfront however. Despite that we think we have a pretty formidable team here.

So who gets into The Right Winger’s dream CTR360 XI?

Striker:
Landon Donovan saved the day for us as he can play up front. The on-loan American has been a massive hit on the Merseyside. Everton have spoken about their desire to keep him longer but it does seem that a return to the USA is the mostly likely thing to happen. Pity!

Midfielders:
Alessandro Diamanti has been impressive for West Ham. With a shortage of out and out strikers wearing CTR360’s, we packed another attacking midfielder into the middle. It would be fun to watch his link-up play with Cesc Fabregas.
Cesc Fabregas is the player Nike built the launch of the CTR360 around. For that reason alone he needs to be in this side. We won’t forget that he is in fact seriously good as well though.
Javier Mascherano has been one of Liverpool’s most consistent performers over the past couple of years. Gerrard and Torres usually get the glory but Javier has been just as important. He can have a rush of blood to the head every now and then however.
James Milner has seen his star rise at a rapid rate recently. Rated by many as a future England captain, Milner has enjoyed most of this season playing down the middle for Aston Villa. His versatility is his greatest strength as he is comfortable at right back, on either wing or down the middle.
Florent Malouda has been a revelation at Chelsea. Arguably one of the Blues’ best players this season, Malouda has pace to burn and a powerful shot.

Defenders:
Ashley Cole was once a great F50 wearer before his contract ran out. He was then seen in Puma V1.08 boots before the release of the CTR360. He is currently out with an injury and plagued with back page scandal. Despite it all he remains England’s best left back, by far.
Joleon Lescott’s move to Man City wasn’t a smooth one with Everton left feeling most aggrieved. His City career has been stunted by some injury problems. He isn’t England’s first choice centre-back but his performances deserve him a spot in the squad.
Daniel Agger is another player who has been unfortunate with injuries. The Liverpool defender certainly seems to be Rafa’s first choice when he is fit. We at The Right Winger are big fans of the young Dane.
James Collins has been brilliant for Aston Villa. He is actually a centre-back but we felt he could do a good job at right-back. A good old fashioned, no-nonsense defender.

Goal Keeper:
Ben Foster. We struggled to find a keeper that wears CTR360 on a frequent basis. Foster seems to be the only one really. Foster is another player we have a lot of time for. With more game time and a few confidence boosters we believe he has what it takes to be both Manchester United’s and England’s number 1.

The bench (or special mention):
Tom Huddlestone
Johnny Evans

NIKE CTR360 – THE NEW WORLD ORDER? ADIDAS PREDATOR X: THE LEGEND RETURNS

Posted on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in Boots

ctr360-montage

Nike’s recent release of the new CTR360 maestro has been met with somewhat of a revolution.

Branded as an ‘all-round’ boot rather than a ‘touch’ or ‘power’ boot, the CTR360 mixes the best aspects of both. A rubberized ‘pass pad’ provides more accuracy. They have dampening pads on the forefoot for a better first touch. Sharper studs on the heel and unique dual-density fore-foot studs in a circular pattern add extra grip.

Nike went back to the drawing board with these boots. Extensive testing and player opinion helped them develop this amazing boot. It was released in two colorways: black/white/yellow and the flagship colorway; red/black/white, which seem to be getting more game time.

Apparently, Nike offered the boots out to players at training grounds. If they liked them they could chose to wear them. Not a bad idea. And it seems to have worked!

Players are popping up with CTR360’s all over the place, some of whom aren’t even supposedly sponsored by Nike. Ashley Cole, ex-Adidas man appeared in Puma’s during pre-season and now can’t get them off his feet. West Ham’s Alessandro Diamanti has traded in his Diadoras. Malouda, Milner, Matty Taylor, Mascherano, Alex Song, Iniesta and Fabregas can all be seen in CTR360’s – just to name a few…

predator-x-montage

One of the most iconic boots of all time were released yesterday. The ‘Predator X’ is the newest version in Adidas’ successful Predator franchise. They are worn on the feet of stars such as Gerrard, Raul and of course, David Beckham.

Predators, for so long the first choice of professionals and amateurs, have slipped down the pecking order it seems. The rise of the Nike Vapour series has been influential in this. The Adidas Predator however can still claim to be the highest scoring boot in the Premier League at this current moment with 6 more goals than the Nike Lasers. In fact Nike only hold a 1% greater stake in the Premier League in terms of market share.

Aresnal’s van Persie is the Predators highest scorer in 9th with 5 goals. (Jermain Defoe is Adidas’ highest goal scorer with 6. He wears F50i’s.)

One of Predator’s biggest problems is that they currently lack big name stars. Previously there was a plethora of talent to choose from as the ‘face’ for this boot. That has dropped slightly. This is changing however with the addition of Karim Benzema to the Predator family. Ballack, van Persie, Gerrard and Berbatov can all be used in England. Beckahm globally and in the USA. Raul and Benzema now in Spain.

I just wonder, if with the release of the new Predator X, we will see a surge of players wearing PX’s like we did with the CT360’s. Adidas also called in a player (well ex-player) to help design this boot. Zidane was one of the most iconic Predator wearers of all time! The PX’s also feature new technologies to help with power and swerve. They claim the new technology can help you kick harder, which means the ball moves faster (almost three meters per second). For only the second time ever, Predators don’t have a fold-over tongue. The Predator X uses a wrap around system like the AdiPure boots.

With large amounts of technology and development going into these boots it will be interesting to see which one gets bragging rights as the Premier League (and World Cup) top scorer!

Will the release of the new Predators see another ‘revolution’ like the CTR360’s brought about? Will avid F50 users and AdiPure wearers be switching over weekly?

We will have to wait and see…

THE ALL NEW NIKE CTR360

Posted on Friday, October 2, 2009 in Boots

shot_07_white

Yesterday Nike released a brand new innovation in football boots with the CTR360 Maesti.

The boot has been engineered for enhanced passing, close control and effective distribution.

The boot is made from a unique synthetic upper called Kanga-Lite, which delivers the fit and feel of soft leather, but with the performance qualities of engineered fabrics. For years Nike material technicians have worked on developing a synthetic solution that achieves the fit and feel characteristics of traditional leathers. Kanga-Lite delivers this solution with a supple feel and upper that performs well in any weather condition, maintains its shape and doesn’t soak up water.

A unique user-code that comes with every pair of the boots allows access to exclusive training content from some of the biggest names in the game, including Cesc Fabregas of Arsenal and Andrés Iniesta of FC Barcelona.

‘Maesti’ means ‘master’ in Italian. Nike are giving everyone the chance to be a master.

The CTR360 Maestri boot is now available at retail.
