ADIDAS ARGENTINA HOME/AWAY JERSEY

Adidas, with the help of Lionel Messi, have unveiled the new Argentina home and away kits designed for the 2011 Copa America. There is only so much a brand can do with the design of international jerseys, especially with the likes of Argentina whose jerseys are steeped in tradition. Despite that Adidas have done a great job with the detailing on the new home and away jerseys for the AFA.

The most noticeable change is the addition of collar to the home shirt (this doesn’t feature on the away kit however). The collar, when added to the slightly broader vertical stripes, add a sophisticated look to the jersey.

Adidas have also placed the AFA crest on a black background which causes it stand out more on the chest. The collar, wider stripes, pronounced badge, embroidered adidas logo, embossed design around the logo (featuring the year the AFA was formed – 1893) and gold detailing make this a very classy jersey and does justice to the traditional colors of the “Albiceleste”

The new away jersey is predominantly navy blue but features white, cyan and gold detailing and has a rounded neck. Both jerseys feature Adidas’ innovative ClimaCool technology which provides crucial ventilation and comfort.

ARGENTINA’S NEW AWAY JERSEY FROM ADIDAS
Argentina’s new away jersey has drawn inspiration from the jersey used in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Every Argentinian will remember that World Cup for two reasons: They lifted the trophy for the second time and were helped along the road by the ‘hand of god’ goal, courtesy of Diego Maradona. Maradona now leads the team as coach, not player and will be hoping the new jersey inspires his charges to more World Cup glory.
This new jersey has already seen action when a locally-based Argentinian side secured a 2-1 victory over Jamaica in Buenos Aires.
