ADIDAS’ ADIPOWER PREDATOR

Speculation over the new Adidas Predator LZ is gaining momentum as the anticipation and expectation grows ahead of their launch. The Predator LZ is set to be the most groundbreaking Predator ever and we think Adidas have something quite special in store. It does seem like only yesterday however that the AdiPower Predator arrived – and that was a pretty groundbreaking Predator it’s self! Now, after 11 colourways and some spectacular goals (just under 100 in the Premier League alone this season) the boot many people, players and sites voted boot of the year, the AdiPower is set to be replaced by the LZ and we thought we would have a quick look back at all the colourways Adidas gave the AdPower.

Adidas AdiPower Predator – Black/Red/White
The LZ is rumoured to be a pretty striking boot but the AdiPower had some serious eye-catching colourway themselves! The AdiPower Predator was launched in the famous Black/Red/White colourway which has become synonymous with the Predator range as well as the Blue/Electricity/White colourway which was an instant hit.

Adidas AdiPower Predator – Blue/Electricity/White
David Beckham is the most iconic Predator wearer and one of Adidas’ main athletes. The LA Galaxy star first showed off his signature colourway in Gary Neville’s testimonial game against Juventus in May last year. Beckham’s return to Old Trafford and was the perfect launch for his Gold/Red/Black DB boots to make their debut.

Adidas AdiPower Predator – White/Black/Silver
Adidas’ first AdiPower Predator colourway updates were a little unspectacular. Neither the White/Black/Silver colourway (worn on occasion by Edin Dzeko), nor the Black/Electricity/Splash (worn on occasion by Dirk Kuyt) proved to be a big hit on pitches with many players opting to stick with the original launch colourways.

September saw the UEFA Champions League take centre stage and Adidas launched their Champions League colourway boots. The AdiPower got a great looking White/Purple colourway which featured similar designs on the heel as the official match ball. This colourway proved to be a big hit with Robin Van Persie who seemed to put everything he touched into the back of the net with this colourway.

The Black/Warning colourway arrived just in time for Halloween and still graces pitches, despite being over 5 months old. This was the last official black based colourway Adidas released and is still worn by the likes of Steven Gerrard and Dimitar Berbatov who prefer black boots.

Adidas AdiPower Predator – Black/Warning
David Beckham received his second and current signature colourway in October when his Gold/Red/Black colourway was replaced by this Prime Ink Blue/White/Electricity – a colourway many thought was the best Adidas had released. Before this colourway (Beckham had worn a one-off White/Pink colourway in celebration of his daughter’s birth.)

Sometimes simple is best and Adidas proved that with their final white colourway. The White/Cyan/Black is as cool as ice and possibly one of the cleanest colourways Adidas have ever released. This colourway received no official on field support yet still found some game time on the likes of Louis Saha and Tim Cahill.

The current official colourway is Slime/Navy/White and has proven to be a big hit with boot fans around the world. It was ‘Slime’s’ first appearance on the Predator range having been used on the AdiZero previously. We are sure we will see more eye-catching colourways like this for the LZ when they are released.

The end of the AdiPower Predator was confirmed when Adidas released the Black/Black colourway. Adidas have created a tradition of releasing a black-out version of their boots as final colourway – a tradition that is loved by boot fans.

Adidas AdiPower Predator – Black/Black (Black-out)
When the LZ arrives they will have a difficult job bettering the AdiPower’s colourways but the job of beating their performance and popularity will be an even bigger challenge. The LZ promises much but we won’t be surprised if we still see a good number of AdiPower Predators hanging around.
ADIDAS PREDATOR ADIPOWER – BLACK-OUT
Over the years football boots colourways have gotten more and more inventive with brands releasing eccentric colourways to help their boots catch the eye. There is however one colourway that every true boot fan loves – the Black-out.

The Adidas Predator AdiPower one of the best boots on the market and many have touted as the boot of the year last year. Having been on pitches for almost a year, we have seen some great colourways (eleven, excluding the SL releases) for the AdiPower Predator but this is the last and easily the classiest.

Adidas have developed a (wonderful) habit of releasing a black-out version of their boots – usually towards the end run, signalling a new version on the horizon. The black-out treatment is giving to every silo but often released in limited numbers. Everyone loves a black-out boot and they are an immediate fan favourite and often a huge hit at retail.

The new AdiPower black-out add to Adidas’ growing collection of black-out football boots that include the adiPure III, f50 adizero and Predator X. The new Black/Black/Black AdiPower Predator football boots are available to pre-order at selected retailers for release on 01/03/12.
ADIDAS PREDATOR ADIPOWER – SLIME/NAVY/WHITE
Adidas’ AdiPower Predator has been a resounding success since its launch last year. Now Adidas unveil their latest (10th including two David Beckham’s colourways) colour combination – Slime/Navy/White.

The AdiPower Predator features a Taurus calf leather upper with a new re-engineered silicon rubber Predator Element is split into two zones. The first zone is an aggressive, structured surface which integrates the Adidas stripes is the ‘Power Zone’. The 3D fins give rebound upon ball impact, generating additional striking power from the boot. The second ‘Swerve Zone’ features a hexagonal pattern. The even and soft surface provides a longer contact time with the ball, resulting in higher friction and ultimately higher swerve.

Adidas’ groundbreaking SprintFrame outsole features a redesigned Predator PowerSpine from the Predator X. This allows additional energy transfer directly from the foot into the ball by preventing the foot from over bending while still allowing for comfortable running movements thanks to the flex grooves which keep the element highly flexible in the right direction.

Adidas like to use new colours across their silos. We saw their ‘Warning’ and ‘Electricity’ colours being used extensively and it seems that ‘Slime’ – making its Predator debut – has joined the bright colour revolution.
ADIDAS ADIPOWER PREDATOR – WHITE/CYAN/BLACK

Adidas have a habit of releasing a number of new colourways at the same time however not all of them are core exposure colourways. Some of the best colourways Adidas have released have received no official on field support (although they often find their way onto the feet of professional players). One such colourway is this new White/Cyan/Black colourway – which we here at TRW think is a great looking colourway.

There is something very clean about the combination of white and cyan and the contrast of the black really adds to the overall look of the boot – as do the subtle splashes of Warning. There are a host of great AdiPower Predator colourways to choose from but we think it is a real pity that we won’t be seeing a lot of this colourway.

Despite the fact that this colourway will receive no official on field support they have already been spotted on the training pitch. Surprisingly not on the feet of a player but on Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho. The ‘Special One’ has often sported great looking boots once again showed he is a stylish man wearing this classy colourway.

NEW DAVID BECKHAM ADIDAS ADIPOWER PREDATOR

Yesterday was the start of the 2011 MLS Playoffs and although there was some great action, the most eye-catching thing on the field was undoubtedly David Beckham’s new Prime Ink Blue/White/Electricity Adidas AdiPower Predators.

As usual the new Beckham (or DB) colourway features a synthetic upper rather than the standard Taurus calf leather due to Beckham’s animal rights beliefs. One noticeable change on the new DB boots is the inclusion of Beckham’s new logo. His previous ‘free kick’ logo has featured on his previous signature colourways but this is the first time his new logo – which is his name with a soccer ball shaped cutout – has featured.
Beckham’s personal pair feature his usual array personalizations such as the name of his four children, his squad number 23, a custom insole as well as the English and American flags on the heels above his new logo.

Beckham showed off his new boots on his Facebook page last Thursday but debuted his new flashy colourway, which replaces his comparatively understated previous Gold/Red colourway, for LA Galaxy as they beat New York Red Bulls 1-0 at the Red Bull Arena yesterday.

ADIDAS ADIPOWER PREDATOR – BLACK/WARNING/WHITE

Since their launch the new Adidas AdiPower Predators have landed in some great looking colourways. Now Adidas have released their newest colourway – one it seems was inspired by an upcoming holiday.

The new Black / Warning / White colourway has a distinct Halloween feel to it as Adidas’ much used ‘Warning’ colourway makes its Predator debut. This new colourway is set to be the new lead colourway so you can expect to see all the major Predator wearers such as Nani, van Persie and Garrard in this new colourway next month.

ADIDAS ADIPOWER PREDATOR – UCL WHITE/PURPLE
The 13 of September will see the kick-off of the new Uefa Champions League season and as usaual Adidas have released a UCL inspired Predator colourway. Adidas have released a bold new White/Purple colourway for the AdiPower Predator – a combination we think looks great.

The stand out feature of this colourway is the rainbow-like section on the heel of the boots similar to the design featured on the new Finale ball and Petr Cech’s gloves.

The AdiPower Predator is 25% lighter than their predecessor the Predator X. This is thanks mostly to the incorporation of Adidas’ SprintFrame we know from the AdiZeros. The AdiPowers’ SprintFrame features a redesigned Predator PowerSpine for additional energy transfer directly from the foot into the ball resulting in greater power.

A redesigned Predator element, lighter upper and TPU outsole and high-grade Taurus leather provide a perfect fitting boot with a superb touch.

This newest AdiPower Predator colourway looks great and we can’t wait to see who opts for this colourway come Match Day 1. This colourway will be available in South Africa.
BECKHAM CELEBRTES DAUGHTERS BIRTH IN PINK BOOTS

David Beckham was one of the original boot customizers when he began adding numbers and names to his boots. These days the names of his boys Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz have been stitched on the instep of his boots. That list however now includes their baby sister Harper Seven.

To celebrate the birth of their new daughter David Beckham turned out for LA Galaxy against his former club Real Madrid in a pair of bespoke White/Pink/Electricity Adidas AdiPower Predator boots.Beckham and the Galaxy were hosting Real Madrid in the opening game of the Herbalife World Football Challenge at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum yesterday (Real Madrid won 4-1).

We are used to Beckham wearing unique boots as the ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid star has is own line of Adidas Predator boots we know as the ‘DB’ range but as far as we know this is a once off boot colourway and will not be available for purchase.

If you think they look familiar you are probably right. Beckham’s special boots look a lot like the recently released Ladies White/Pink/Black AdiPower Predator Adidas launched for the Women’s World Cup.

ADIDAS PREDATOR ADIPOWER COLOURWAYS
Adidas have grabbed all the headlines recently with the release of the new AdiPower Predator and some eye-catching AdiZero colourways. Now Adidas have unveiled two more colourways for the new Predator AdiPower.

The first colourway is the third launch colourway but will have no on-field support and limited distribution. We think this White/Black/Silver colourway looks really good and we are a little disappointed we wont be seeing these on the field.

The new AdiPower Predator features a Taurus calf leather and weigh just 225g. this is thanks, in part to Adidas’ groundbreaking SprintFrame outsole (which we know from the AdiZero). The SprintFrame features a redesigned Predator PowerSpine from the Predator X, to allow additional energy transfer directly from the foot into the ball by preventing the foot from over bending while still allowing for comfortable running movements thanks to the flex grooves which keep the element highly flexible in the right direction.
The new re-engineered silicon rubber Predator Element is split into two zones.

The second colourway looks like a perfect fit for the Inter Milan kit and is expected to be available mid July. Adidas seem to be big fans of the ‘elevtricity’ colour as we have seen this in a lot of their recent boots. We also like it here at TRW and think it defiantly adds to this Black/Electricity/Splash colourway. this colourway will have limited on-field support and distribution.

ADIDAS DAVID BECKHAM ADIPOWER PREDATOR
Last night we were given a early glimpse of David Beckham’s new signature AdiPower Predator colourway and now TRW gives you a closer look at the new Gold/Red/Black DB AdiPower Predator colourway.

Beckham is the ultimate symbol of Adidas football and has been a Predator icon for years. Beckham maybe heading towards the end of his career but there is no doubt his image is still worth plenty and it is no surprise that Adidas have added a DB colourway to new AdiPower Predator range.
Beckham’s new boots are an interesting Gold/Red/Black colourway and were seen for the first time when the ex-Manchester United star returned to Old Trafford to take part in fellow club legend Gary Neville’s testimonial match at Old Trafford. This is not Beckham’s first pair of gold Predators as the LA Galaxy midfielder was presented with a limited edition pair of Predator PowerSwerve boots to mark his 100th cap for England. However this is the first time they are released as an official retail colouraway.

The new AdiPower Predator features a Taurus calf leather but Beckam;s boots will have a synthetic Predator’s due to animal rights beliefs and are therefore 10g lighter than the standard leather adiPower, weighing just 225g.
Adidas’ well know SprintFrame (which we know from the AdiZero) features a redesigned Predator PowerSpine from the Predator X, to allow additional energy transfer directly from the foot into the ball by preventing the foot from over bending while still allowing for comfortable running movements thanks to the flex grooves which keep the element highly flexible in the right direction.

The new re-engineered silicon rubber Predator Element is split into two zones.
The new Gold/Red/Black DB AdiPower Predators are due for release from in mid July
