NIKE ELITE SERIES BOOTS
A little while ago we had a look at all the new colourways Nike have released for the start of the new season. (See all the colourways here)
We wanted to take a closer look at the new Elite Series boot colourways and who will be wearing them. Nike designers reduced the weight of each boot so that players can perform at their best. Lightweight construction, intricate engineering, carbon-enforced strength and high contrast colours distinguish these boots. Super-strong, lightweight carbon fiber plates mean that the Mercurial Vapor SuperFly II is 5% lighter, the CTR360 Maestri is 19% lighter and both the Total90 Laser III and Tiempo Legend III are 16% lighter.

An average person’s vision is 99% peripheral. Under 1% is considered foveal, or focused vision. Nike designers analyzed the colour spectrum to identify two high-contrast colours so that when a player is running with these boots, the colours trigger a stimulus to rapidly tune peripheral vision. The World Cup colourway of ‘Mach Purple’ and ‘Total Orange’ provided the perfect blend to create this effect and performance advantage. The new colourways do not feature two-tone, high-contrast colours however (except the CTR360’s which always have a two-tone effect).
Nike T90 Laser III – Challenge Red/White/Black

Wayne Rooney has had a lot said about him post World Cup. The English striker had a disastrous time in South Africa, failing to score a single goal as England were eliminated. Now he returns home to Manchester as he and his fellow teammates look to wrestle the title back from Chelsea. The new Challenge Red/White/Black T90 Laser III will look great with the new Manchester United kit Nike launched recently. Rooney finished with 26 goals in the League last season and will look to put even more in the back of the net this season.
Nike Superfly II – Bright Cactus/White/Anthracite

Cristiano Ronaldo is another player with something to prove after a less than convincing World Cup showing. The Portuguese hitman returns for his second season at Real Madrid and will hope that he can taste success again. Ronnie will sport the new Bright Cactus/White/Anthracite colourway for the start of the season. Hopefully they will bring him a bit more luck than he had last season.
Nike CTR360 Maestri – Black/White/Retro

Cesc Fabregas has been the face of the CTR360 since their launch. The Gunners’ midfielder now has a World Cup winners’ medal around his neck and will be looking for more success this season. The question of where he will play his football next season still remains in everyone’s mind. Whether with Arsenal or Barcelona, he will be wearing the new Black/White/Retro CTR360 colourway.
Nike Tiempo Legend III – White/Seaweed/Red

There is a lot of speculation surrounding Ronaldinho. The Brazilian has been rumored to be on his way to the MLS to join David Beckham at LA Galaxy. His agent and brother has indicated that he is happy at AC Milan however. It is interesting to see that Ronaldinho is the face of Tiempo Legend boots. The play-maker used to have his own boot; the Nike 10R Dios. We haven’t heard anything about them for about a year now so the chances are we wont see them again. The Tiempo Legend isn’t a step down for the former player of the year though.
