ADIDAS ADIZERO LEATHER

Adidas recently launch the new F50 adiZero – the lightest boot ever made. It was released in three colourways: Black/Sun, Sun/Black and Leo Messi’s special ‘Chameleon’ colourway. They are also available in a leather version. Unfortunately, South Africa will only be bring in the Black/Sun leather version. (Which made it’s competitive debut in the Europa League final on the feet of Athletic Madrid striker, Diego Forlan.) All three colourways of the ’sprintskin’ version will however be available. Speed is essential in modern football, the most important factor in the game. I have been at AC Milan for twelve years and the speed of professional football has changed incredibly. The older players who were playing then like Clarence Seedorf have had to get quicker – despite getting older.
The simple fact is that if you are fast then you have a tremendous advantage over the other players. There are many other attributes to being a footballer, but speed is the one thing which unites the best.
Without speed, it’s now impossible to play at the highest level. Look at the players who are named the best in the world – they have one thing in common: speed. Lionel Messi is known for his explosive speed. It helps him get past players. At Milan, we have many fast players and it’s not just about straight running, but being technically fast and fast during different movements.
Speed is something which you are born with, but there are certain types of training regimes which can help you stay fast for longer. The players here do a lot of work at the Milan lab in the gym and we do most things with the ball. Players sprint with the ball to simulate game conditions. We look at strength, co-ordination and the overall physical and mental well being of players. And good, light, boots are important too. In the past, football boots have hindered movement. Now, boots like the F50 are fantastic for fast football.
