XI SERIES: ADIPURE

Names such as Lampard, Kaka and Alonso are synonymous with Adidas AdiPure boots. The beautifully crafted leather upper provides you with an excellent touch and supreme comfort. Usually found on the feet of midfielders and playmakers, the AdiPure series are now in their third incarnation. We struggled to find a striker in the Premier League who wears AdiPure boots as well as a keeper. We got lucky with Kevin Davies who likes the original AdiPure boots but had no joy with finding a keeper.
So who gets into The Right Winger’s dream AdiPure XI?
Strikers:
Kevin Davies has had a lot said about him recently. He is one of the most fouled forwards in the Premier League. This is because his strength and height is such a danger in and around the six yard box. Referred to often as an ‘old-school’ centre forward, Davies relies on his strength to out muscle his opponents and create goal-scoring opportunities.
Midfielders:
Frank Lampard as we said, is well known for wearing AdiPure boots. Seen these days in the new White/Gold AdiPure III boots, Lampard is the definition of an attacking midfielder. Lately his brilliant club form has begun filtering into the England set up where he was often criticized.
Michael Arteta’s return from injury has been a great boost for Everton. The Spanish playmaker has been in sparkling form since returning. Mostly employed out wide, Arteta can play down each flank or down the middle. He is also a dead ball specialist.
Jimmy Bullard makes Hull a different team. Another player who’s club has suffered while he hung around in injury rehab. Bullard suffered a major injury scare to his knee but has come back on fire. Rumours link him with a move away. Newcastle is the possible destination for the renown funny man of the Premier League.
Gareth Barry has been a main stay in the England set up. Some think that is only because Owen Hargreaves has injury problems. Even if that was true, Barry’s performances warrant him a place in the side. Since his (controversial) move to Manchester City, Barry has gone from strength to strength. He is happy in the holding midfield role or even at left back.
David Bentley has proved us all wrong. A big thank you goes to Aaron Lennon for getting injured. If not for the diminutive Spurs winger, Bentley would never have had the opportunity to polish his star. The ex-Blackburn winger has been a revelation since getting some game time for Spurs. An outcast a few months ago, Bentley could (and should) be a surprise inclusion in England’s World Cup squad.
Defenders:
Fabio Aurelio is a free-kick master. The Brazilian left back has had an unlucky time of it with injuries. A fully fit Aurelio would be a fixture in the Liverpool side. A great defender and skilled attacker, Aurelio is happy at both left back and left wing.
Danny Gabbidon is yet another player who could have a much bigger number next to his appearance column had it not been for injuries. Gabbidon’s presence in West Ham’s back four is certainly good news for the Hammers, despite the torrid time they are going through.
Ricardo Carvalho is pure class. The Chelsea defender is regarded as one of the wiliest centre backs in the game by many. The Portuguese star has formed a formidable partnership with Chelsea skipper John Terry.
Phil Neville is another player who could surprise many (probably even himself) by getting on the plane to South Africa. England have problems at right back and the ex-Manchester United full-back is in solid form. The Everton skipper has been a rock for the Merseyside club over the years and has actually played more games than his brother.
Goal Keeper:
Brad Friedel. We couldn’t find a goalkeeper wearing AdiPure boots in the Premier League so we asked the big Aston Villa stopper to stand in goal for us. The American number 1 is a big Predator fan.
