FOOTBALL’S FAIRYTALE NIGHT
Last night saw some amazing things happen in the world of football. Fulham played host to Juventus. The Italian giants had a 3-1 aggregate lead over the London club. This was increased to 4-1 after just 2 minutes thanks to David Trezeguet. That should have been the end of Roy Hodgson’s men. It wasn’t. A goal from Zamora and a Gera brace brought the teams level. Enter Clint Dempsey. The American winger sent the Cottage faithful into wild celebration with his dainty chip over Juve keeper, Antonio Chimenti. Fulham held on to win the tie 5-4 on aggregate. Dempsey’s chip was a historic moment for Fulham. It was also the first competitive outing for the new Nike Superfly II. Dempsey’s cheeky flick won’t be the last time a player sporting Superfly II’s will make us go: ‘Wow!’

In a slightly less glamorous affair, but not less fairytale-like, Owen Hargreaves made his long awaited return to football in a reserves match against Burnley. The United reserves came out 2-0 winners on the night. Hargreaves played a full 45 minutes before being replaced. This will no doubt excite Manchester United fans all around the world. It will also give a few England fans a reason to smile. Hargreaves still has a long way to go before he can seriously start talking about a World Cup place but playing is the first step. His boot choice was an interesting one. Hargreaves chose to play his first match since returning from injury in the newly released Red/Metallic Gold/Summit White Nike CTR360 Maestri boots. The midfield enforcer wore T90 Lasers before his double knee surgery. We wait expectantly to see if he carries on wearing these great looking boots boots.
